Lost on the Stoop Lyrics

Shed off and peel, I'm in no shape or form
You're just a reject coming down for more.
When two are receiving you know I could be there, soon you're laughing
Soon you're laughing my way

Your daddy don't get you...a heap in a big mess, soon you're laughing soon you're laughing my way
You're urban you're complex and you know I will be there,
soon you're laughing soon you're laughing your way

Chorus
When you're lost on the stoop
When you fall out of bounds
You could be leaves downtown
And it's always you're fault
You get lost in yourself
You could be leaves downtown

And I can find you once you know about this plan
And I can find you once you insult the man
And yeah you like this trash talking washing you down
Yeah you like this trash talking moving you around

When two are deceiving you know I can be there,
Soon you're laughing soon you're laughing your way again

Chorus
When you're lost in the stoop
When you lied out of bounds
You could be leaves downtown
But it's always your fault
You get lost on the stupid things when you're leaves downtown.

Well, it has themes of urban living in it. I feel like it's definitely about parents or a marriage, especially the bit that says Your daddy don't get you. I think it's just about someone struggling growing up in an urban environment with dodgy parents - according to these lyrics. I personally don't like the bit about Your Daddy don't get you. The way he sings it sounds like a bit of a dig, and why would you dig someone whose daddy doesn't get them? Seems empathetically counterintuitive. Maybe this person, who is the You, hurt the person who wrote the song? These are my thoughts on the song/lyrics. Great sound to the song though. That's why it's on my playlist.

Oh lord. These lyrics are nothing like what I heard. Then again, I can barely make sense of the lyrics when I'm listening to the song. Daniel Powter is a good artist, but like Suspect and in some ways Hollywood, I can barely make out the words in this song. The English makes no sense too.

Has he released official lyrics to this song? I can't make sense of it.

He has, actually. If you go to his website, you can see the actual lyrics for the song. I've submitted this for correction with the proper lyrics, so it should be fixed soon.

I went to a concert of his and he said that this song was about his mixed up childhood.
