Rapture Lyrics

Hey,

In the life of the wrong, love lingers on, love lingered on to frustration
And if our love is so wrong, what should we do alone?
Or am I just a picture in a photograph?
Why are we stuck in this pantomime, fearing a god who died
One who would not deny lovers?
And I don't care what they say, if what you need is your faith,
Then take a look at my face and know…

Until your rapture falls to pieces
Until your rapture falls to pieces
Find in me room to breathe, simple things like suffering

Life has gone this way
Life has gone this way

Still in the life of the wrong have we moved along
Another life evolved to gestation
So we made our way with the mistakes we made
But she was just a picture in the photographs
So she walked in the baby's room
Knowing what she would do left me in absolute horror
She put her hand on its lips and gave it one last kiss
And sang some tune that went…

Until your rapture falls to pieces
Until your rapture falls to pieces
Find in me room to breathe,
Simple things like suffering

Yes I would, and I would destroy your god
Yes I would, if I could destroy your god
Because you're born again
Until you're worn again

And still your rapture falls to pieces
Will your rapture fall to pieces?
Find in me room to breathe
Sinful things are suffering

But, if this must be, then burden with me
Anything
Just don't leave…

Find in me…Room to breathe…Enmity…Suffering

She swore she heard the voice of Jesus
Telling her “it was wrong to keep it”
And one more thing, it looked like me
Back when it breathed…Rest in peace
Until the rapture comes to meet us

I'm sorry but some of the answers posted on here are borderline retarded. ChubbyHuggs is right. Listen to the words of the song and interpret them LITERALLY. The song describes an event that actually happened. Essentially it is saying that you should not act on extreme religious doctrine as the woman being described obviously did. It is not a song about the rapture, or some sort of pro-religious message. Do a little research on the band itself and its members. Not hard to figure out.

I could have sworn that i heard that his girlfriend had killed their kid and killed herself sometime later. I know most of his lyrics are personal refrences towards his personal life, so I thought this song was about his girlfriend and their child.

Deep song, being a vocalist myself I wouldn’t be able to hold it together on this one. Sad. I believe he’s talking about two perceptions of God, a false God and God we believe in. When saying, “yes I would if I could destroy your God,” I take that as him saying whatever insane perception of a false god she’s conjured to believe is real. In this case her god equals serious mental health.

In my opinion he’s obviously sharing an experience but also conveying a message about believing and how that belief can thrown into question from an unimaginable tragedy, and when the worst happens to us. You can’t grasp why God would allow such an awful thing to happen.

He does this through a firsthand experience. He’s conveying a message that until you’re presented with the worst possible situation you can be one joyful, happy and one with God…but that can quickly be tested and you have no idea how easily you can lose hope and faith when something happens to you that you can’t imagine why God would ever let that occur. It can all be ripped away in an instance.

oh yeah K in Yo Mouf, 'doezn't' is spelled with a S not a Z. so is "comez' and 'hiz' and 'iz'... and almost every word u wrote in all your comments.

the song is about a girlfriend he had. she was so obsessed with her religion that when they had a child out of wedlock she suffocated it and claimed that jesus told her to do it.

I didn't take the time to read all the comments, so if this has already been mentioned then I apologize. I heard an interview with J.Loren were he talked about this song, he basically said he wrote after he read a newspaper article about a woman who killed her baby, because God told her to. I don't believe anything like this actually happened to anyone in the band.

Kickass song for sure!!

the song was written by the lead singer, after his wife had a crazy religious moment and killed their child, because 'her god' told her to. very sad but powerful, listen to the lyrics again now.........

i could be completely off on this meaning...but maybe its about abstenence... And if our love is so wrong, what should we do alone? Or am I just a picture in a photograph? Why are we stuck in this pantomime, fearing a god who died One who would not deny lovers sounds like hes saying why would God not want us to have sex, its like denying people love...and then the lines But, if this must be, burn with me Anything Just don’t leave…

sounds like hes saying if it is this way...then lose your virginity to me and we'll burn in hell, but we'll still have eachother for ever

I read on their website that the song was about "not setting yourself up as god."
