Please Don't Tell Her

In my opinion it pretty much means a guy falls in love with a girl, but the girl doesn't ever give him a chance or maybe is already taken. He wants to forget her.

Reverse psychology meaning he is trying to convince himself that he doesn't love her or want anything to do with her yet it hurts so much.

She may have given him false hope or even loved him but it just couldn't work out in the situation they were put in

"And never let me in to spend my quarter "

The girl never even gave the guy a chance or may someone already is playing the symbolic "game" with her meaning she is already with someone. Yet this game never ended and they ended up being together forever not giving the singer a chance ever to be with this girl.

"that i'm crazy like the rest of us and i'm crazier when i'm next to her"

He just cant take being near her, its taunting and tempting and knowing that it wont happen makes it that much worse.

"please don't dare tell her what i've become please don't mention all the attention i have drawn please don't bother cause she'll feel guilty when i'm gone "

Finally the guy doesn't want the girl to feel bad for letting him down on such grand of a scale. He has become a heart-broken and love-sick and may not return to normal or is trying as hard as he can in just being apathetic.

This is easy if you've seen that one video where he describes it as "an anti-love song that takes a lot of love to sing" though not in that same video, he mentions that she basically thrives on the attention she got/gets from him/guys in general and to spread the word around that he doesn't, in fact, miss her (though secretly he does) would hurt her [1], maybe as much as she hurt him [2a]. He's doing this all while telling himself that he doesn't miss her so that he can get over her [2b].

Its not about a video game. You have to read the entire verse. She's kickin ass across the board rock 200 thousand+ score. I can't play again because her game just never ends. I'm not going to get in there to spend my quarter. Basically, she kicks butt at pinball and while thats awesome, she doesn't let him play.

Whats beautiful about this song is that its not describing anything and its not supposed to tell a story or paint a picture for you. It only speaks from the heart of a guy trying to get over a girl, and frankly a guy with a broken heart won't make much sense. He will talk about how unattractive she is, but deep down he still thinks she's awesome. Whether or not he really does miss her, even he doesn't know.

it sounds like he really doesnt miss her in the first verse. The way he sings it just sounds like he doesnt care until the line "there's no love for me no more." Then you get the feeling that he is just trying to cover up the fact that he does miss her because he doesnt want her to know he does. I love this song - can't wait to see him live in Feb!!! Love it on the DVD when he sings it in the studio, so brill!!!

When talking about this song with some friends, one of them brought up that it may be about a video game. "And never let me in to spend my quarter"--makes it sound like putting a quarter into a video game machine. And also, on jasonmraz.com under 'song shirts' the shirt for this song looks like it may be a pinball machine. What do you think?

I thought the quarter part was his way of saying he never even got a chance with her. Fits in with the way he uses a video game to show how awesome he thinks she is.
