This song is so intentional. To me, the message is as clear as day. Stop caring so much. He's been spending too long making sure he looks perfect, to please everyone else. And there is still something wrong, so he does whatever he can to try and see whats wrong with him. And then his reflection gets blurry, and he forgets where he began. So he starts over again, and is finally able to enjoy who he truly is. So just stop working on your appearance so much and go with the flow, because the only opinion that matters in your life should be your own, and you can never truly change who you are. "Our name is our virtue".

ok, first of all the new version is available on iTunes, and will be on his new album We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things out May 20 i think. my opinion of the two is that the original version, found out and about on downloading sites, is more of a love song melody, while the iTunes version is like a friends/life song. Meaning. First Verse- I think it is about how he met this girl and she was amazing,made him buckle at the knees kinda thing,"so hot that I melted", the "i reckon it's again my turn to win some or learn some" is like it's his time to win the girl and have a good relationship, or at least learn some valuable wisdom from the experience. The Chorus 1-open up your mind just like open up your mind i guess, open up your life so you can just go with the flow of things 2-I won't hesitate basically like a mini version of the john mayer song "say", just like saying what you need to say, in love context, saying what you fell or making a move or something in life context, just not hesitating to go and do something, being spontaneous, going with the flow "our time is short, this is our fate, no need to complicate" to not over analyze or speculate anything and just live it out in the present. Mirror verse my interpretation is that he has been spending way too long making sure everything looks perfect in the mirror and in other people's eyes, bending all these ways just to try to get the image right, his efforts fogged up the real image, and then he drew a new image and laughed, go with the flow of things "our name is our virtue" virtue literally means-conformity to a standard of right,but it also means a beneficial quality, so my thought is that he's saying either it is yet another common thing,common names, that we all just conform to, or he's saying it is a thing that's givin to us, and we learn to accept it no matter how weird or unique or common it is, like he's saying we should learn to accept ourselves as we truly are also maybe he is talking about how since he's bending all over checking himself and his breath fogged up his true self, from doing that, he lost himself in trying to make himself "normal" overall i think that he's just saying don't hesitate in life, no matter what it is, be true to yourself, enjoy life, and just live in the present. speaking of jason mraz, if you liked his t-shirts in his I'm Yours video, you can find them on blendapparel.com ,amazing company,eco-friendly,chec'em out.

I’m yours" Basically saying he doesn't want to wait any longer to be with the girl of his dreams and wants her to see this as he sees it. He believes it's fate and doesn't understand why is she complicating it any more than it should be. "Open up your mind and see like me Open up your plans and damn you’re free Look into your heart and you’ll find love love love…" Wants her to open up her plans meaning maybe break up with her current boyfriend so she could be with him and even find more love for the singer than anyone.

it's a beautiful song about being head over heels over someone, and how you have to let go and just let it roll and see what happens. i LOVE the "tongue" verse.

so i think this song is like, really good. i love what it means even though it sounds really confusing. i think the tongue verse means hes always trying to impress someone, and he does everything he can. but one time it doesnt work, so he decides to try something new to cover it up, and he ends up liking it better. just my interpretation.. lmao

Well, as agreed with much said above, this song is fantastic. But, rather than an ass, I'd say that the tonge is really just a visual of what he tries to say later. "i guess what i'm a sayin'is there ain't no better reason to rid yourself of vanity" He looks in a mirror, fogs is up, and he no longer can see is own face. It becomes new. (that, or it could be that little happy face that everyone draws on fogged up glass) and he laughs at what he see's. Now, to go a little far with it, it could be that he was obsessed with seeing something about himself, His vanities, and then, when he fogged it up, he finally realised how stupid he was being for making such an effort on looks.

I tend to be all about the depressing wrist slitter lyrics, but I actually really really love this song. Beautiful voice.

I just discovered this song, and it just makes me.. happy. I never knew a man could have such a beautiful voice. Just when he says "i won't hesitate no more, no more" his voice just... ahh pure beauty
