Sweet. first comment. well, obviosly this song is about lieing. It's about getting into a bad habbit of lieing to his girlfriend. the girlfriend is starting to find out about the lies, and it upsets her and she cant trust him any more. and the guy is trying to starting to realize all the problems his lieing is causing. "What you gonna do when it all comes out When I see you & what you're all about" is obviousely means how are you going to fix this problem when i find out about the truths behind all your lies. "And I lie and I lie and I lie till there's no turning back I don't know why, [and I lie and I lie till I don't know who I am]" probly means that his lieing has goten way too out of controll the its going to be next to impossible to fix it all and he doesnt want to lie any more, but its too big of a habbit now.
I kinda feel like this song is almost like a sequel to Shut Up
ack. will.i.am and fergie are always the main couple here. whatever. this song is no doubt about lying. he lies and cheats on his girlfriend though he loves her deeply and wouldn
t want to lose her. he doesnt know why he does that. from what i can tell, its just a thrill to him though he doesnt know it [just an inference]. after a while, the girl slowly learns that she cant trust him and is breaking up with him. then hes heartbroken and moping about it all.I totally agree with beprules. This song is just sounds so good, and i love the "Nononono baby, nononono don't lie", bit in the chorus. I'm not normally into this kinda music but Black Eyed Peas are a exception, speshly when they got songs like this one.

Even though i liked how this song sounded and the video clip for it, i never really liked the meaning, like saying 'dont lie' over and over again is a bit lame. A while ago i saw in an interview, Fergie said that "Dont lie" was based on a song that she had written years before, which was about how she used to lead and "unhealthy lifestyle" (im assuming this was drug addiction) and how she lied to herself about it, telling herself that it wasnt such a problem etc.. Then she went on to say that, with the black eyed peas, they remade the song, but gave it a different meaning (about infidelity). I really dont think they should have changed the meaning because so many songs are about cheating and it gets to the point where it just seems shallow and cliche' Most of their popular songs seem to be shallow.. lets get it started/retarted or hey mamma (with the exception of "Where is the love") Although i must say that most of them sound really good. I never thought i would care so much about song meanings, when i was younger all i cared was if songs sounded good.
is it just me or does this song and the last one they released sound about the same? I mean they both start with the word "DON'T" (don't lie, don't phunk with my heart) Also the chorus is "NONONONO" Very creative guys
