Welcome Home Lyrics

You could have been all I wanted
But you weren't honest
Now get in the ground

You choked off the surest of favors
But if you really loved me
You would've endured my world

Well If you're just as I presumed
You're a whore in sheep's clothing
Fucking up all I do

And if so here we stop
Then never again
Will you see this in your life

Hang on to the glory at my right hand
Here laid to rest, is our love ever longed?
With truth on the shores of compassion
You seem to take premise to all of these songs

You stormed off to scar the armada
Like Jesus played martyr
I'll drill through your hands

The stone for the curse you have blamed me
With love and devotion
You'll die as you sleep

But if you could just write me out
To never less wonder
Happy will I become?

Be true that this is no option
So, with sin I condemn you
Demon play demon out

Hang on to the glory at my right hand
Here laid to rest, is our love ever longed?
With truth on the shores of compassion
You seem to take premise to all of these songs

One last kiss for you
One more wish to you
Please make up your mind girl, I'd do anything for you

One last kiss for you
One more wish to you
Please make up your mind girl, before I hope you die

Ok, first of all I agree with the theory that the first verse of the song is sang by Claudio Sanchez, and the second verse is sang by Claudio Killgannon.

I read in Kerrang Magazine that Claudio said some of this record is inspired by this relationship he was in where this girl basically wanted him to settle down and abandon the band (Coheed and Cambria). He said he was actually prepared to make this choice, but things didn't work out.

Given that, I think this song definately is about that situation. The first verse is about how crazy he was about this girl, and how she betrayed him and broke his heart (I assume she cheated on him or something).

These lines specifically lead me to believe that.

You could have been all that I wanted But you were honest Now get in the ground

(We could've been married and happy, but you lied/cheated, so die)

You choked off the "surest" of favors But if you really loved me You would've ignored my world

(You would've thrown away our marriage if I refused to leave the band, but if you loved me you would've allowed me to continue doing what I love)

Then basically the last lines of the first verse are just saying you're a whore trying to fuck up my life, so you're not going to have a badass like me in your life anymore.

Now, my interpretation of the second verse is I think it's Claudio Killgannon pissed off that Claudio Sanchez is considering quitting the band and thus ending the story.

I'm not quite sure about all that Jesus and armada stuff, but here's my interpretation of these lines

With love and devotion I'll die as you sleep

(because of you're marriage to this girl, you're considering stopping the writing of this story, and just killing me)

But if you could just write me out To never this wonder Happy will I become?

(you could just stop writing this story and never leave me with closure? never let me find out how things end for me, or if I end up)

Be true that this is no option So listen, god damn you Demon raiding the love

(I think this part is just Claudio Killgannon saying he has no choice but to finish writing the story. He has to finish this, or else how will his world's problems be resolved)

Likewise, I think the chorus is just Claudio Sanchez talking about how the relationship between the woman and him is dead and over.

I also wonder if the right hand reference his referring to the hand with which he writes/strums his guitar with, basically saying to the characters in the story, and possibly the fans, "Hang ong ot the glory of my right hand," or, hang on, because im going to finish writing this story and making these songs.

And finally the last part goes along with the whole relationship with the girl thing

I know this has been a very long post, but I want to propose one final question of mine.

As you guys know, Claudio has said the writer of the story will be involved in the plotline of this album...but also it has been hinted at that the God of the world of Coheed and Cambria is an influence on the plot too. Do you guys thinik that the writer of the story is the God that the Prise are waiting to return?

Just a theory I thought I'd propose.

Anyways, sorry for the long post, I just had some theories about this song, so I thought I'd post them.

@JacktheLion Holy shit Man this is from 2005? I was just looking up lyrics I like to get inspired to write my own and I found this. This is the the best and most thought out explanation i've seen. Hats off to you and I hope you are well. PS I think your theories are dead on and you also were the catalyst to me finding out about The Armory Wars!!! Much love and thanks

I love this song! I adored it so much that I had to buy the album, and I became a fan very quickly. XD

The song to me is just pure genius with dark undertones to back it up. Wicked guitar solo too.

I always thought that he said, "Like Jesus bled later". However, the lyrics in the cover say, "Like Jesus played letter" but I think the people who were making the cover messed it up, since it doesn't make as much sense. -shrug-

@Anesther Far too late, but I just came back here after a hiatus. On the Neverender disc, the lyric is clearly "Like Jesus played Maker," though "martyr" is the ACTUAL lyric (from the lyric sheet).

@Anesther It does sound like "letter' but I think it is letter as in blood letter. In the old days, they would cure ailments by "blood letting" and getting rid of the sickness that way. Jesus played letter by giving his blood to cure the ailment that is sin.

The song was originally titled Kashmire and the styles an homage to Led Zepplin.

Like 2113 was to Rush's 2112 and Final Cut is to Pink Floyd's Final Cut.

The song/album steps out of the story to show how the writers life affects the outcome. Dear Apollo im burning Star IV, volume two will finish the story and thier last album will be the beginning of everything.

Does anyone know for sure if the writer is meant to be Cladio/the band, or if the writer is a character in a story-inside-of-a-story kind of motif?

Amazing song.

The race is not called the Prise, they are the fairy creatures that watch over the keywork for god. The race that rules over man is called Mage.

ok im going to straighten out this song for u guys

You stormed off to scar the armada Like Jesus bled later I'll drill through your hands The storm for the curse you have blamed me To never this wonder Happy will I become?

Hang on to the glory of my right hand Here laid to rest, is our love ever long We're two from the shores of compassion You seem to take premise to all of these souls

One last kiss for you One more wish 'til you Please make up your mind girl, I'll do anything for you One last kiss for you One more wish 'til you Please make up your mind girl, before I hope you die

"surest of favors" "endured my reign" "and on to the glory at my right hand" "with truth on the shores of confession" "premise to all of these songs" "Like Jesus PLAYED LETTER" "but if you could just rat me out" "never mis-warn her" "so rinse it, condem you"

Correct "Endured my will" - can definitely hear the W and L "Hang on" - there is a H and it still makes sense Correct Correct - I can't believe it's different in the lyrics! "Like Jesus played martyr" - JESUS PLAYED MARTYR AND HAD HIS HANDS DRILLED THROUGH! THINK LOGICALLY! "If you would just write me out" - you can't be ratted out to neverless wonder. "To neverless wonder" - you missed out the "to". What you are proposing makes little sense and isn't a metaphor, analogy or reference. "With sin, condemn you" - rinse... what exactly? Not to mention there is an N not a T...

This song is powerful. On November 1, 2005, I saw C & C at Rockettown it was the best night of my life.
