Hot Tequila Brown Lyrics

How many times, can I mend
Watch the sun rise over his head
Without feeling free
How many words, will fail me in my negligence
To arrest, oh yes, this crazy part of me
How many fools, will I let
Unlock the door to my heart
When I know that, know that
They should’ve had the key
It’s been so long, and the groove in my hearts nearly gone
Oh my heads in the clouds
But I’m landing on my feet

Don’t shoot me down
The sun shining down, I’m hot tequila brown
Don’t shoot me down
I’m stone cold, but I’m lying here in the
Sunshine shining down

How many lives, will I lose
On the bad lines, inside my mind
I think I’ve had enough
Don’t shoot me down
All I want is to see my black eyes turn back to brown
Plus that rule become, I think I really must

I'm pretty sure the lyrics is "how many times, can a man/watch the sun rise over his head/without feeling free?" Otherwise, it just does not make sense. Also, "should've" should be "shouldn't 've"

The chorus repeats after the second verse as well, except it is a little different: Don?t shoot me down The sun shining down, I?m hot tequila brown Don?t shoot me down I?m stone cold, but I?m lying here in the Sunshine shining down Sunshine shining down Sunshine shining down

that's all

just to clarify, "that's all" isn't part of the lyrics

I feel like this song is about someone who is struggling with some sort of addiction. To me, it sounds like an upbeat song.. but the lyrics seem to be talking about a person with an internal battle. Saying you want to change, but unable... how many times can you say you want to change without taking action? It's as though your brain is in a war with itself. You lead the charge on both sides, the bad and the good, and you want so much for the good to finally break free.

Perhaps I am way off, but it's what I gather from this song.

I think it's generally about a person trying to change and become more positive and happy, and is not quite there yet, like HedgehogPie said. I really love this song, it means a lot to me.

"How many times, can a man Watch the sun rise over his head Without feeling free"

  • In my opinion it means that the person is sometimes able to "watch the sun rise" and feel free, but sometimes he just can't do it, so he's trying to change it.

"How many words, will fail me in my negligence To arrest, oh yes, this crazy part of me"

  • same thing. The person's trying to be more measured but he just slips sometimes and finds himself saying things he regrets later. things he didn't necessarily mean.

"How many fools, will I let Unlock the door to my heart When I know that, know that They shouldn’t have had the key"

  • pretty obvious, making mistakes about trusting ppl that shouldn't be trusted.

"It’s been so long, and the groove in my hearts nearly gone"

  • Even though he already went through a lot in his life, he still menages to make a lot of mistakes which tire him and bit by bit take away the groove from his heart.

"Oh my heads in the clouds But I’m landing on my feet"

  • Aiming high but reaching only mediocrity.

"How many lives, will I lose On the battle lines, inside my mind I think I’ve had enough"

  • Beating himself mentally every time he makes the slightest mistake, thinking of it over and over again. Can't take it anymore.

"All I want is to see my black eyes turn back to brown cross that Rubicon, I think I really must "

  • Wanting his genuine love for life back by crossing that Rubicon, making that big step of changing.

"Don’t shoot me down The sun shining down, I’m hot tequila brown Don’t shoot me down I’m stone cold, but I’m lying here in the Sunshine shining down"

  • don't give up on me just yet, I'm currently in a bad state but I'll get better. Can't really tell what "hot tequila brown" means =\
