You Made Me Forget My Dreams Lyrics
You made me forget my dreams
When I woke up to you sleeping
We had peace for a night at least
But the trouble starts today
This morning you'll say
"I'll see you sometime, maybe"
And I fall back to uneasy sleep
You made me forget my dreams
I was building a space rocket
With the boy who played bass guitar
With the boy who's wearing flares
He didn't care
He lit the fuse and ran for a mile
The space rocket went up in style
The space rocket went up in style
I'll lend you two hundred quid
For a flight across the ocean
Maybe things will look better there
Because they couldn't be much worse
Than tears and a curse
For men with guns, maturing in age
Will always pay a shitty wage
They'll always pay a shitty wage
You made me forget my dreams
When I woke up to you sleeping
There was blood on the sheets again
And the view outside the window
Of gardens in bloom
Obscured by all the trouble we had
I think I better make a move
I think I better make a move
When I woke up to you sleeping
We had peace for a night at least
But the trouble starts today
This morning you'll say
And I fall back to uneasy sleep
I was building a space rocket
With the boy who played bass guitar
With the boy who's wearing flares
He didn't care
He lit the fuse and ran for a mile
The space rocket went up in style
The space rocket went up in style
For a flight across the ocean
Maybe things will look better there
Because they couldn't be much worse
Than tears and a curse
For men with guns, maturing in age
Will always pay a shitty wage
They'll always pay a shitty wage
When I woke up to you sleeping
There was blood on the sheets again
And the view outside the window
Of gardens in bloom
Obscured by all the trouble we had
I think I better make a move
I think I better make a move

Why so few comments? This is such a stunningly beautiful song. The meaning isn't conscpicuous, but there's definitely hints towards a relationship here...
Possibly the most fucked up ending to a song in history! But I like it...up to the disco point.
Disco point? It's a sample from On The Run from Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon isn't it?

Gorgeous Song.
beautiful song! what can I say ? again love, relations betweens men and women are always problematic that's not really funny!
i don't even know what to say about this song besides the fact i find it so calming and melancholic. the music itself accompanied by the tone of his voice during the whole song speaks volumes more than I can say about it. i love the begining, it sounds like floating in a very deep tank, or weightlessness in those planes they use for preparing for space flight.
"I'll lend you two hundred quid for a flight across the ocean maybe things will look better there because they couldn't be much worse,"
strangely, that REMINDS me of a dream of mine. i always think of it meaning that this person made him forget all of his dreams and plans for the future he thought he would have with her, and now due to circumstances he's watching all of those dreams die, and he can feel himself forgetting how he ever was able to have that much hope in the first place.
This song reminds me of the end of my last relationship...when things began to go south. We argue a lot...little things make you ask "What does that mean?" the line "Maybe I'll see you sometime" makes me think of that. The whole point of "You made me forget my dreams" also reminds me of when sometimes someone breaks-up with you and it's sort of sudden, like a chair is pulled out underneath, you were thinking pleasant things prior, you were dreaming and the incident forced you to forget your dreams.
I think its about a gay relationship "blood on the sheets again" .. or maybe some other kind of "forbidden love" because there is uncertainty about their seeing each other again...
anyway I just came here to comment that the line "You made me forget my dreams / When I woke up to you sleeping" is so simple and plaintive and beautiful. I know what it's like to fall asleep in utter, debilitating grief, and to wake up once again to your heavy heart beating out its own slow tears. at that moment I can just imagine looking over next to me and watching the person I love sleeping. somebody who's been through the exact same thing as me, and for whom I'm doing it all.
