This song means to me that when youre being decieved you need to see what its doing to you. Its about seeing that youre being controlled by powers that you dont need to be. He says "remove from me this deception that i call love" he means that love is a deception when its misused, like with addiction, or with any kind of addiction. He says only through struggle have i found rest, he means that only through a battle of , sweat and tears can we succeed in beating the demons that lie deep inside the soul. He then says that with a piece of me taken away, sometimes that happens, you feel that because youre fighting your personal demons that you feel like you lose a piece of who you are. Its about being able to yell in the face of your demon and tell it no.

I think there is more than JUST being deceived about love. I think it is about how the world wants to take each individual and conform him into a robot with gears that turn to make emotions and assembled thoughts. Only through struggle are we able to break this mold and have the machine in our chest removed.
I believe this song is addressing humanity as a whole and not just Christians since we aren't the only ones that can fall into an almost robotic mold.

this song seems to me to be about a tainted perception of what love realy is perhaps the writer felt the way he looked for love wasent right and he wants God to help him fix it

I'd just like to add that I love the dark feeling of these lyrics. I love the fact that they are Christians, and still have such a dark, raw vision, which is also very profound. I think the song is about the recognition that life is a bitch, existence and human condition themselves can be big bitches sometimes, and when you get to face them, you can only count on you. You MUST count on you.
I think the story present in the videoclip illustrates this wonderfully. The old man hasn't got his heart. Life/existence was bitch enought to steal it, to dilacerate his whole heart. And still he BUILT a new one... he built a heart BY his own, FOR his own... can you imagine how PWNING that is? How wonderfull this metaphor is? The videoclip just blew my mind for that!

i totally understood the the meaning of this song when i could apply it too myself. i think it is jsut for times in your when nothing seems to go the right way. you often get used to the feeling of something missing or taken from you. i think the first line pretty much sums it up, and then you apply love to it.
