You keep saying you got something for me
Something you call love but confess
You've been a'messin' where you shouldn't 've been a'messin'
And now someone else is getting all your best
Well, these boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do
One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you
You keep lyin' when you oughta be truthin'
You keep losing when you oughta not bet
You keep samin' when you oughta be a'changin'
What's right is right but you ain't been right yet
These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do
One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you
You keep playing where you shouldn't be playing
And you keep thinking that you'll never get burnt, hah
Well, I've just found me a brand new box of matches, yeah
And what he knows you ain't have time to learn
These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do
One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you
Are you ready, boots?
Start walkin'

What an fun remake of a great song! Jessica was the right choice for the new casting of Daisy! This song has had a lot of remakes with different lyrics put in but this one is my favorite!

Wow. I'm speechless. This is one of the worst song covers I've ever heard.

Ok, granted, the girl has a good voice. Well, when she's not doing those stupid voices like she does in the beginning of this song (are you ready boots?) , but why on earth do they keep letting her ruin these classic songs?! I thought it was bad enough what she did to Take My Breath Away, but what she did to this song was just mind blowing. She seriously butchered this song. Murdered it. WhaT a disgrace to Nancy Sinatra. The girl really needs to stick to her own songs.

I agree with Dawnie-7... Jessica Simpson keeps ruining classics! What the hell is wrong with that girl?

She has to sing covers because she is too stupid to write her own songs. I had to turn this song off when I first heard it.. what a disaster of a great classic.... have you seen the video? guys might find it amusing but when did she become such a skank? she is washing the car almost naked... reminds me of Paris Hilton.

Yes! I can't believe her new whore look either. I mean, if was only a year or so ago when she was saying how when her second album came out, her label was making her act and dress sexier so she could keep up with Britney and Christina, and how they made her lose all kinds of weight and she was complaining about how uncomfortable she was with it all. What the hell does she think she's doing now? She's being way to sluty and she is waaaaaaaay too thin.

It's all for money and crap.....but she doesn't need to be doing all the crap she is....she looks better in her good old covered up outfits.....although this song wasn't too bad.......but the video.....oh my god......

I downloaded it out of curiosity... It's bloody abysmal. I've heard bad cover versions, but this is terrible. Her voice is so weak and flimsy, Nancy's voice was perfect as it was strong and powerful enough to carry it off. And I agree with Dawnie, her stupid little speaky bits are even worse. I was never a fan, but I had an ounce of respect for Jessica for having some class compared to Britney and Christina, but in the video, she really is just a Britney clone. Way to ruin my day, bloody useless woman

Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?

This song is def a twin to "Unfair" (a song she has been quoted as saying is about falling in love with someone who is already in a relationship) so it is presumably about the same person. Given the references to buying an apartment and not being able to see her love interest "after tonight," it's most likely that she's moving away and she'll "wait a day to break the bad news" (i.e. notifying him that she's leaving once she's already gone). And, of course, the fact that she sees in him a fellow "idealist" and "dreamer" (terms commonly given to people with the INFP personality on the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)) portends that she'll always be left wondering if they would've been perfect together.

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
