Scene Of The Crime Lyrics
Just got another call from down at the station
They found lucky victim number 7
City of sin in the city of angels
Without a heaven
(Sunday sun is running away)
High up in the hills surrounded by stars
Her latest masterpiece she made out of glass
City of sin in the city of angels
In the trunk of her car
Oh no, temptation is running wild
But I know that someday you'll be mine
When you return to the scene of the crime.
Satan took her mind and held it for ransom
Dad was short of cash but brutally handsome
Then she discovered that killing was her passion.
Oh no, temptation is running wild
But I know that someday you'll be mine
When you return to the scene of the crime
We traced a call from Collexico
She said she wants to meet your wife and kids (Oh no)
They're away on holiday
In San Felez bay in Mexico
Oh no, temptation's reconciled
There she goes, she's taking her own guide
Now I know she's left us with a smile
When she returned to the scene of the crime.
They found lucky victim number 7
City of sin in the city of angels
Without a heaven
Her latest masterpiece she made out of glass
City of sin in the city of angels
In the trunk of her car
But I know that someday you'll be mine
When you return to the scene of the crime.
Dad was short of cash but brutally handsome
Then she discovered that killing was her passion.
But I know that someday you'll be mine
When you return to the scene of the crime
She said she wants to meet your wife and kids (Oh no)
They're away on holiday
In San Felez bay in Mexico
There she goes, she's taking her own guide
Now I know she's left us with a smile
When she returned to the scene of the crime.

Are you sure these lyrics are right? I heard:
Just got another call from down at the station They found lucky victim number seven A citizen in the City of Angels Without a heaven
(Temptation is running wild)
High up in the hills surrounded by stars Her latest masterpiece she met at a bar A citizen in the City of Angels In the trunk of her car
Oh no, temptation's running wild But I know that someday you'll be mine When you return to the scene of the crime
Satan took her mind and held it for ransom Dad was short on cash but brutally handsome Then she discovered that Killing was her passion
But oh no, temptation's running wild But I know that someday you'll be mine When you return to the scene of the crime
We've traced a call from Collexico She says she wants to meet your wife and kids Oh no They're away on holiday In San Felipe, Mexico Woah, woah, woah
Oh no, temptation's reconciled There she goes, she's taking her own life Now I know she's left us with a smile When she returned to the scene of the crime
This song sounds fantastic.
The melody of the verses mimics Tom Petty and the Heartbreaker's "Into the Great Wide Open" almost exactly. Listen to the lines: "Satan took her mind and held it for ransom/Dad was short of cash but brutally handsome/Then she discovered that..." and then listen to Tom Petty: "His leather jacket had chains that would jingle/They both met movie stars, partied and mingled/Thier A&R man said..." They're identical. Is this intentional on Lazlo Bane's part, an homage of sorts? Both songs are about lost people, but this one seems to be about a serial killer...!
