Alvarez Lyrics
The stars will be your nightlights tonight
And I will be your lullaby
They dragged it up
And continued with the beatings
And how you bleed
'Cos you could bleed forever
It burns and leaves the rope tied tonight
It burns and leaves the rope tied...
The stars will be your nightlights tonight
And I will be your lullaby
Another finger lost
What use do you have for those eyes in your head?
You took and killed
Everything about me
It burns and leaves the rope tied tonight
It burns and leaves the rope tied...
The stars will be your nightlights tonight
And I will be your lullaby (X2)
So Goodnight
So disgusted with it
You took your sweet time
So let's get out of this town
So let's get out of this town
So disgusted with it
And you took your sweet time
So lets get out of this town
So lets get out of this town
Start this day all over and over again
Just like the good old days
You wipe the stains from off your face
And forget her, just forget her (X2)
Best line I heard all day
You're too much of a good thing
Too much of a good thing
And I will be your lullaby
And continued with the beatings
And how you bleed
'Cos you could bleed forever
It burns and leaves the rope tied tonight
It burns and leaves the rope tied...
And I will be your lullaby
What use do you have for those eyes in your head?
You took and killed
Everything about me
It burns and leaves the rope tied tonight
It burns and leaves the rope tied...
And I will be your lullaby (X2)
So Goodnight
You took your sweet time
So let's get out of this town
So let's get out of this town
So disgusted with it
And you took your sweet time
So lets get out of this town
So lets get out of this town
Start this day all over and over again
You wipe the stains from off your face
And forget her, just forget her (X2)
You're too much of a good thing
Too much of a good thing

Parts of this song remind me of 'Lazarus' and how Matt wrote about the dying Emocore scene.
'So disgusted with it And you took your sweet time So lets get out of this town So lets get out of this town Start this day all over and over again'
This bit sums up his ideals on the scene these days, being swamped by below-par scenesters, and how the band have tried to re-invent the music and escape 'emo' before it dies out, as does this section :
'Just like the good old days You wipe the stains from off your face And forget her, just forget her'
Leaving the old scene behind, forgetting it and moving on. The 'Too much of a good thing' line could also apply to this. Matt and the band love the genre, but these days it is overplayed and overtly fashionable.
The song could also refer to the above ideas of suicide, but this could be one of the other metaphors going on.
sounds alot like matt is reffering to death or the loss of someone or something in alot of the lines in clever ways here, this is the hardest song for me to get into atm but the rest of the album is beautiful and nothing less .xX
It's about suicide I think, specially referring to the lines:
'And how you bleed 'Cos you could bleed forever It burns and leaves the rope tied tonight It burns and leaves the rope tied...'
Refers to cutting yourself and even hanging yourself I think. Very deep song! You become disgusted at the fact youve let yourself do this to yourself and you just want to escape.
'So let's get out of this town'
I wouldnt take this line too literatly, I think its more escaping the pressures of everyone around you and just being on your own for a while you and your thoughts when referring to you or we in the song.
This is my favourite song from the new album, the ending is just so great..."you're too much of a good thing", what a line! The whole new album is freakin' awesome by the way.
amazing song. fuckin amazing..
This song when you first get hours for most people i no and me is the hardest to get into but after a while becomes a favourate, its just got a sound about it thats really different for ffaf, but still is really good like there other stuff. To me this sounds like escaping, either through suicide or generally getting away or combing the two through death getting away from what you hate to something better.
"just like the good old days, you wipe the stains from off of your face, Just forget her, Just forget her, Best line I heard all day, You're too much of a good thing, Too much of a good thing"
Ironically, is the best line I've heard all day :P (yes, i am aware it is more than one line, but you get the idea)
Great song. I think it is about suicide...yeah...i love the first few lines too. I saw FFAF last night in Adelaide (australia) it was FUCKING AWESOME! great band. great song. great concert.
great.
I went to one of their concerts at the Astoria, London, about a year ago and Matt introduced the song to be about a pair of gay cowboys "with their assless leather chaps", interestingly. Aw, I just love him.
best song ever.
yeah amazing song!
