Disturbing The Priest Lyrics

Let's try getting to the sky, hang on or you're going to die
Sour life can turn sweet, it's laying at your feet
Sweet child with an innocent smile watches closely all the while
Don't be fooled when he cries, keep looking at the eyes

Good life is contradiction because of the crucifixion
If you're ready and have the need, I will take your soul and plant my seed

You just gotta listen to the night at the ending of the day
You just gotta listen to the night as safety slips away
Moving out of sight are the things you need to see to feel
And as they slip away becoming so unreal unreal
You just gotta listen to the night as you're going up the stairs
You just gotta listen to the night and don't forget to say your prayers
And as you lose control to the eyes in dark disguise
And icy fingers send electric lies

We're disturbing the priest, won't you please come to our feast
Do we mind disturbing the priest, not at all, not at all, not in the least
Ahhhh, Do we mind disturbing the priest
Aahhhh, not at all, not at all, not in the least

The force of the devil is the darkness the priest has to face
The force of the night will destroy him but will not disgrace
To get into his mind and to his soul you gotta set alight
The flames of doubt so deep inside inside
The devil and the priest can't exist if one goes away
It's just like the battle of the sun and the moon and night and day
The force of the devil, that's we're all told to fear
Watch out for religion when he gets too near too near

We're disturbing the priest, won't you please come to our feast
Do we mind disturbing the priest, not at all, not at all, not in the least

Good life is contradiction because of the crucifixion
If you're ready and have the need, I will take your soul and plant my seed

Aahhhh, ahhhh, ah ha ha ha haaa!

Let's try getting to the sky, hang on or you're going to die
Sour life can turn sweet, it's laying at your feet
Sweet child with an innocent smile watches closely all the while
Don't be fooled when he cries, keep looking at the eyes
Oh, disturbing the priest!

I always thought it was: "the devil and a priest givin' 50 young girls away." (sounds more evil)

ian gillian sung so well on this album that roger glover put deep purple back together and it's thus the only one he did with sabbath.

i know that alot of Sabbath-Ozzy fans wish that a song like this would be sung with Ozzy on vocals.. because this is exactly the sound Sabbath were looking during the last days of Ozzy. The sound of "Sabotage".. anyway.. Ian Gillan did more than a fine job on this album. Gillan + Immi riffs = Hell of an album !!!!!!! A Sabbath Classic !!!!!!!!!

There was a group of church members and their priest rehearsing some church choirs next to the place where the BS members at the time were rehearsing (Gillan, Iommi, Butler, Ward). So the priest knocked the door and asked the guys if they can keep it down a little bit and maybe rehearse in some other time.. Ian Gillan apologized to him. So days later.. they were sitting and thinking about the incident and Geezer Butler said "hey, we're disturbing the priest".. everybody laughed, then he wrote these lyrics. This how the song came to be.

This song is a true story. It's about Sabbath when they were rehearsing and recording the Born Again album. A local vicar came over to complain about the noise they were making.

Very heavy and scary song. I think it was probably written just to stir contreversy (that's what it feels like), but it's still a very strong song from the Born Again album, thanks to Ian Gillans powerful vocals.

actually it's : "the devil and the priest can't exist if one goes away." but i listen to it stoned with the lights very low and a few friends late at night smokin' dope. then it sounds like: "the devil and a priest givin' 50 young girls away."
