This song is about someone committing a sin. Doing something they knew was wrong and that hurt someone else. They don't know what they're going to do, try to drown themselves in their own sorrow and feel guilty because they think it's penitent. That it will help them feel better as they do their best to pretend it's enough but all the while they're taking for granted the people or things they should find important. Meanwhile the guilt haunts them and despite how 'sorry' they feel the writer isn't going to shed a tear for them. They know it's all bs.
