Falling Off The Edge Of The World Lyrics
I think about closing the door
And lately I think of it more
I'm living well out of my time
I feel like i'm losing my mind
I should be at the table round
A servant of the crown
The keeper of the sign
To sparkle and to shine
Never, no never again!
Listen to me and believe what I say if you can
Never, this is the end
You know I've seen the faces of doom and I'm only a man
Help me, tell me I'm sane
I feel a change in the earth, in the wind and the rain
Save me, take me away
You know I've seen some creatures from hell and I've heard what they say!
I've got to be strong
Oh, I'm falling off the edge of the world
Think you're safe, but you're wrong!
We are falling off the edge of the world!
Look out! there's danger! no where to run!
It seems like desperate measures but sometimes it has to be done
Over, it's over at last
There's a message inside as we build a new life from the past
We're falling off the edge of the world!
Yes, the edge of the world!
It's the end of the world!
And lately I think of it more
I'm living well out of my time
I feel like i'm losing my mind
A servant of the crown
The keeper of the sign
To sparkle and to shine
Listen to me and believe what I say if you can
Never, this is the end
You know I've seen the faces of doom and I'm only a man
Help me, tell me I'm sane
I feel a change in the earth, in the wind and the rain
Save me, take me away
You know I've seen some creatures from hell and I've heard what they say!
Oh, I'm falling off the edge of the world
Think you're safe, but you're wrong!
We are falling off the edge of the world!
It seems like desperate measures but sometimes it has to be done
Over, it's over at last
There's a message inside as we build a new life from the past
Yes, the edge of the world!
It's the end of the world!

The first line "I think about closing the door, and lately I think of it more" to me sounds a person contemplating suicide. They are unhappy with their lot in life and can't relate to the present day world as it is. They feel like they should have been born in another time. The line "I should be at the table round, a servant of the crown..." makes me think this person is someone with a bright mind who is forced to live in a way that is beneath them and doesn't let them shine and live up to their true potential. They are living like a peasant even though they are really royalty.
@houseofglass21 This is perfect.

Dio's voice is just divine and tremendous. This song is awesome and talks about the thin boundaries a man faces when the world he thought he knew is obviously changing. I sense themes of madness and paranoia, too.
RACC, I think you're off the mark. Considering "Load" came out about.... 16 years after "The Mob Rules" I'm fairly certain Ante is suggesting Metallica ripped Sabbath off. Not the other way around as you figured. And by the way, this is my fave Sabbath song. Yep, Dio is the man.
This makes me think of when people though the world was flat and they could sail off of it. I see columbus sitting at a table looking at maps. Lol
Makes me want to kick something...always has.
All members of Black Sabbath were privy to secrets. Dio constantly sang of lies. The biggest lie ever told is that the Earth is round. It\'s flat only there is no edge you can fall off. He also sings about the purge that he knows will come. Probably already did with the vaccines. Finally he speaks of the cataclysm that will come after the purge.
This doesn't really have anything to do with the meaning of the song or anything like that... But still, it needs to be said. OK. Here's what you need to do:
I am Ante your are a fool... The only problem with this site is jerkoff's like you put shit down like this. The song is about someone reflecting and that the my or should have been born a generation late. And if they were they may have be more in tune or successful in their own pursuits. The the search for salvation begins. Classic Dio lyrics. If you even know who Dio is. P.S. Mettallica hasn't done anything relevant since the Black Album. Load sucked.
