Last Living Souls Lyrics
Are we the last, living souls
Are we the last, living souls
Are we the last, living souls
Are we the last, living souls
Take a gun
Or how you say
That's no way
To behave
You're so alone, when you begin
To sing a song, that doesn't sin
And it grows
You know
Are we the last, living souls
Are we the last, living souls
Are we the last, to get away
To a song, another day
Or do we know
Why we know
Doesn't seem to be conveyed that way
Are we the last, living souls
Are we the last, living souls
Are we the last, living souls
If you're the last, living souls
Get up, get up, get up, get up
Lord, save me
'Cause all I have sung
I got it down all wrong
I've seen myself to get
The lord, seeing all, now
Can you take us in
The part that comin' of
The coldest man who doesn't say it's wrong
When we go, to the car
I see you walk, into the fog
But when you get there, what do you see
You fit the last, you need on me
Cause we're the last, living souls
We're the last, living souls
Yeah we're the last, living souls
We're the last, living souls
Are we the last, living souls
Are we the last, living souls
Are we the last, living souls
Or how you say
That's no way
To behave
To sing a song, that doesn't sin
And it grows
You know
Are we the last, living souls
Are we the last, to get away
To a song, another day
Or do we know
Why we know
Doesn't seem to be conveyed that way
Are we the last, living souls
Are we the last, living souls
Get up, get up, get up, get up
I got it down all wrong
I've seen myself to get
The lord, seeing all, now
Can you take us in
The part that comin' of
The coldest man who doesn't say it's wrong
I see you walk, into the fog
But when you get there, what do you see
You fit the last, you need on me
We're the last, living souls
Yeah we're the last, living souls
We're the last, living souls

These lyrics are horribly wrong. Yeah it's hard to hear what he sings sometimes, but this is ridiculously off base. This is how I heard the lyrics:
Are we the last living souls? x4
Take a gun or how you say? That’s no way to behave You’re so alone When you begin To sing a song That doesn’t sin And it grows Hey, you know
Are we the last living souls? Are we the last living souls? Are we the last to get away To a song another day Or do we know what we know Or does it seem to be conveyed that way?
Are we the last living souls? x3 If you’re the last living souls Get up, get up, get up, get up
Lord, save me ‘Cause all I have sung I got it down wrong I’ve seen myself to get The Lord, seeing all now Can you take us in? The part that’s coming of The coldest man who doesn’t say it’s wrong
When we go to the car I see you walk into the fog But when you get there, what do you see? You see the last, it’s you and me ‘Cause we’re the last living souls x4
This whole album is kinda like a journey through a post apocalyptic world. Especially this song. But rather than literally asking if we are the last living people, I think Albarn means if we're the last generation that feels happiness, joy, love. Because we are becoming more and more apathetic and angry and hateful. This is kinda like the thesis of the album, he asks "Are we the last living souls?", and the rest of the album is to find out if we really are the last living souls. When he talks about singing and songs, I think that's a metaphor for life. "You're so alone when you begin to 'live a life' that doesn't sin." If you try to live a good life, you're alone because nobody else does it, but then "it grows", and more and more people take after you. So someone has to be first to love. "If you're the last living souls, get up, get up, get up" is like a hopeful encouragement to people to live life with love instead of going under. "'Cause all I have sung" means like all he has done in his life, "I got it down wrong" he did the wrong things in life. "I see you walk into the fog, but when you get there what do you see? You see the last it's you and me, 'cause we're the last living souls" The fog is when you can't see love anymore, so you realize we are the "last living souls".
This song is awesome.
While it's my least favorite of the three that I am listening to right now (Last Living Souls, DARE, Kids with guns) it's still very catchy and somewhat relaxing in comparison with the other songs.
As for the meaning, it's hard to comprehend, but my guess would be that sometimes they feel like they are the only ones that do anything with there lives, and everyonce in a while you feel more important then everyone else.
"Are we the last living souls? Are we the last living souls? Are we the last to get away to some another day? Do we know Well, we know Doesn't seem to be complete"
you listen to three songs at once? or do you only have 3 songs on your ipod at a time?
you listen to three songs at once? or do you only have 3 songs on your ipod at a time?
in the beginning of the song they ask if they are indeed the last living souls... and by the end of the song.. the seem to confirm that they are the "last living souls"
I take it as a means of giving up and escape from those around you that have no soul (well maybe morally bankrupt is less damning).
"Sing a song that doesn't sin" is a favorite line of mine.. it's like telling one to live a life that doesn't lie
the lyrics are wrong. its not "it dosent seem to be complete" it is "it dosent seem to be conveyed by way" its a good song to actually start up the album this is one of my favorites on Demon Days next to Feel Good Inc. and Kids with Guns. I think it kind of means that people dont act human anymore.
He's saying that the gorillaz just might be the only ones left with any morals or at least relalize that things are wrong.-->He uses the gun as an example
By "The coldest man doesn't see it all" i think he means that we have no idea how bad we have been because even the badest, meanest, or coldest man has seen it all. Exept the all seeing lord who we truly need the help of.
thats just wut i cood dig up from this song.
I also like how the album kind of tells a story cus all the songs kind of connect, like after this song he goes on to kids with guns where he furthers this idea with how we con't say no to anything.
Actually vanilla4000 is right about the songs connecting, as all of them have to do with the rapture/armageddon because the album is titled "Demon Days".
This song is where the people are looking for those who went to heaven, contemplating whether they're the "last living souls", which they confirm in the end.
It could also mean those who were left after the "Fire Coming Out Of The Monkey's Head" incident.
Rapture = Bioshock = Febuary 9nth Bioshock 2 ^.^

this song sounds really sinister, but it has a cool beat at the same time!!
to me, this song has kind of a double meaning. like its painting a portrait of the last survivors of a nuclear holocaust or something, but at the same time, he's talking about morals and the like.
brilliant song. possibly the best on the album
well, i think that becasue the intro right before the song contains parts from the movie "dawn of the dead" that it also kinda looks at the world as the last living souls would after a zombie break out, lol, i dunno, i just remember looking in the song credits in the booklet thingy and seeing that the intro had "dawn of the dead" music in it, and then the song after it talks about being the only ones alive, so i look at it that way, kinda an amusing way to look at it
