Diseased Lyrics

Leave your mark under my skin
Oh my how strong you are
And feast your eyes on my disdain
And hope this one won't scar

I will never belong to you, again
I will never belong to you,
Push if you still need my pain
Cause I will never tell
And scream if you still hate my name
Cause I'll be where I fell

Come sit close to me,
Let me feel your breath
Come sit close to me
Hands around my neck
Come sit close to me,
Let me feel your breath
Come sit close to me, close to me, yeah

I will never belong to you, again
I will never belong to you

And if I decide that I am alive
Then I'm diseased and ungrateful
And if I confide that I am a liar
Then I'm diseased and ungrateful
Push in 'til it breaks, if it bleeds then I'll be okay

if I decide that I am alive
Then I'm diseased and ungrateful
If I confide that I am a liar
Then I'm diseased and ungrateful
If I decide that I am alive
Then I'm diseased and ungrateful
If I confide that I am a liar
Then I'm diseased and ungrateful

Come sit close to me
Come sit close to me
Come sit close to me
Come sit close to me

I saw Seether at summerfest a few days ago. Shaun Morgan said, "This song is for girls who are getting beaten up by their man. If you know a girl whos getting hurt by her man, help her out, ya know"

I don't know what the hell Hal0 was talking about, but I think this song is easy to get into from the start! How often do you hear a guitar use a crescendo?? Usually they have only two volumes, soft and loud.

I love this song. It's great.

i agree, definitly one of the best songs on their new cd I think its about how people and things around him are making him into a bad person (Leave your mark under my skin/Oh my how strong you are), and how he tries to not let the things around him control him (I will never belong to you), and how that is judging him unfairly (And if I decide that I am alive/Then I'm diseased and ungrateful/And if I confide that I am a liar/Then I'm diseased and ungrateful)

Your absolutely correct, that's what the song is about. Shaun said at rollingstone.com that the song was about a girl, who's a friend of his, and she used to get the Hell beat out of her by her man, and so, he wrote it as if he were confronting the guy himself. MaggieMichelle

I love this song. I'm with you guys in saying that it is about a woman being abused by her man.

This song is definitely my favorite, period (though I'm not sure how long that'll last, but right now I don't see my attachment fading away).

The entire song is absolutely beautiful, but this part I feel is the most powerful and moving (lyrically AND aesthetically):

Push if you still need my pain Cause I will never tell And scream if you still hate my name Cause I'll be where I fell

why do people do that? doesn't make sense to me. but anyway this is a great song

basically, her man beats her and she tolerates it - bruises and scars, she's loyal to her abuser, she'll always be right where she fell.

and if she decides that she's a person, she's diseased and needs more beating.

the abused person is so used to the abuse that it's normal for them and if they try to change it, there's something wrong, and she deserves to be beaten even more
