In relation to the meaning, I think the persona is thinking of an old friendship from the past (with Daniel) that fell apart for some reason. The chorus seems to say that there the persona still hopes that there are no hard feelings, has memories of their friendship, and that 'Daniel' still thinks of him and their friendship. Well that's what I think anyway... I can relate to it.

Just a few minor changes to lyrics: "where we fill" should be "where we fell" both times and "well you still know me" should be "will you..." both times

I totally agree with purcy. I love the song alot, it has ingenuity and is an absolutely beautiful piece, melodically and lyrically.

I agree with the who lost friend. I'm guessing that there's also a hint of a story about getting caught up in the drug game. "Up to where we sat in clouds of smoke up to when we swam in pools of hope." One gave up, while the other kept up the drug game. Or whether it's just a matter of realising that there is little left in common. Well written song with great melody.

I completely disagree. I always thought of the whole song as being a metaphor of him searching through his memory of an old friend. The few first lines being the biggest clue: "Steppin into a doorway in my mind, this is where you live"

I thought he was singing about visiting an old friend who he hadn't seen for ages. I thought maybe 'Daniel' lost his memory about their friendship, or even maybe he's suffering from alzheimers... what made me think of that were these lines:

"And all the while I’m looking for your half-smile something that will show me that you are still around"

and "something that will show me ooh that you still know me "

and "This is where you live Daniel"

it was like Lior is reminding Daniel where he lives. and that he couldn't see the familiar face in Daniel (the half smile bit) and especially the line " something that will show me that you still know me"

heh. i dunno. that's just what i thought when i first listened to the song

i reckon its actually about himself. a metaphor for rediscovering who he is and the tough path it is to find this out...

maybe somethings made him dramatically change? and he wants to find the person he used to be. i just get the idea its more personal than a friend. he looks at all the images that he used to be ie. half smiles and whatnot.

I think it's about him suddenly being reminded of an old friend who he'd lost contact with.

Sometimes you can be very close to someone for a while but slowly you lose touch, drift apart and all of a sudden they are completely forgotten. Then one day you are reminded of your past friendship and you think back to all the good times you spent together and wonder how all that could have just been forgotten about.

I think Daniel is about something like that.

I feel like this song is about him getting high after a really long time of being sober and finding himself. Like, he pushed his true self into the back of his mind. Especially because he sings "hiiighhh" the whole time. Haha, well, thats just my opinion.
