I know that Bob Seger wrote this song, and if you listen to it in coralation with Bob's "Fire Lake", you'll here a mention of Aunt Sarah in "Fire Lake". Bob sings "who'll tell poor Aunt Sarah that Uncle Joe has run off to Fire Lake". I see it as Uncle Joe was cheating, on Aunt Sarah. Which would correlate to the divorce that Sarah went through in this song.
