I Tried Love Lyrics

Is the Richard Gere gerbil story true?
Who came third in World War II?
Did Sooty sleep with Sue?
These things I think about
When I'm out
With you

What are the holes in biros for?
Which one's with in the Corrs?
Did Jeff Hearst really score?
Cause frankly you're a bore
And I am not

And if it's leaving season
You're second on the bill
If you won't leave me baby
I'll find someone who will
I tried love
I'm sorry
I tried love

Does God ever get it wrong?
Where has Gary Barlow gone?
Why is Christmas Day so long?
It just goes on and on
And on
Like you

And if it's leaving season
You're the second on the bill
If you won't leave me baby
I'll find someone who will
I tried love
I'm sorry
I tried love

do do do...

I tried love
And I'm sorry
I tried love

Why is there ketchup on my sleeve?
Do you think that Adam fancied Eve?
What if Eve could not conceive
And he had to breed with Steve?
We'd all be gay

(laughter)

I actually really like this song, the "hidden" track from Escapology (12.10 on the last track). In a rare occurrence, Robbie seems to have found the exact balance point between jokey silliness and musical excellence. The wordless repeat of the chorus towards the end has something about it that contrasts with the light mood of the words-- it sounds quite tender and dreamy. But the words are still amusing, without resorting to shock value or silly sexual comments. "Does God ever get it wrong/Where has Gary Barlow gone?" Genius.

Completely agree, one of my favourite songs of all time! Hilarious lyrics, very beautiful music. Wry, dreamy and very funny with perfect comic timing. "cos frankly you're a bore...and I'm not" always cracks me up.

Gary Barlow, for those who don't know, being an ex-bandmate of Robbie's (in Take That) who had a bit of a falling out with Robbie and went for a solo career. Some classic lines - "Which one's which in the Corrs" and "Who came third in WWII" are favourites.

You've gotta love Rob's talent for clever lyrics. It's a shame it's only a hidden track, but with lyrics such as the last verse, I guess it's justified. The music is genius and beautiful, whilst the the thought-provoking & witty lines strike the perfect balance. "Why is there ketchup on my sleeve? Do you think that Adam fancied Eve? What if Eve could not conceive And he had to breed with Steve? We'd all be gay"

if you won't leave me baby, i'll find someone who will. this is excellent, mabye the best words to say to a girl. and about a reacher geare sory is abour the famous actor, when he put in his ass a gerbil, and he had to go to the hospital and a doctor took out it. and it is a mistery.

@fede_90lp apart from the fact whoever wrote this ripped this line off from warren zevon
