The Curse Lyrics

Help me I don't know what I'm doin
Help me before I fall to ruin
And if I'm blind, I will lead you on
Come follow me now, before our time is gone

[Chorus]
And as you're laughing at this fool tonight
Let me rid myself of any line that I might use to trip you up
And as I'm howling at the moonlight, don't you kid yourself

I will be your luck and never your curse

Help me I don't know what I'm saying
Sometimes this tongue can be betraying
And if I'm wrong, is that such a crime?
And if you want, you can set my words to right

[Chorus]

I will be your luck

And if your eyes forget to well
And if your lies forget to tell
And if our paths forget to cross
Doesn't mean you're lost

[Chorus]

I will be your luck

[Chorus]

I will be your luck
Cause even at my worst
I will be your luck
never be your curse

Are you kidding?! This song is great! I don't see why you think it's so TERRIBLE. I think the little guitar solo thing in the middle is really cool. I can't quite put my finger on what it means though... hmmmmm. Anyways... great song, it's gotta be on the top 5 for the album.

I just don't understand how you can say this is a bad song. It is probably my favorite track on Out of Exile. It's clearly saying that no matter what happens he will always be there to support and love her never to hurt her or bring her down. Chris Cornell's voice is filled with emotion and I think this song says what we have all wanted to at some point to someone.

easily one of the best on the album(it's MY favourite for sure), even if it's a little different than what you usually expect from chris cornell.

and it's about a breakup. he's telling her that regardless of how their relationship ended, he doesn't regret it, neither should she, and they're lucky to have had the experience. what they had shouldn't ruin what she could have in the future; she shouldn't let it be her curse.

he doesn't hold anything against her, he still loves her, and he just wants the best for her. that's what makes this song so...

@TwiztidThorn Its one of my favorite Chris Cornell songs

This song has a very simple meaning, the narrateor is in love with a girl, saying, he maybe have promblems, but hes willing to rid them 'Let me rid myself of any line that I might use to trip you up' But he also feels like an outsider and abit of a loser 'And as you’re laughing at this fool tonight' and 'And as I’m howling at the moonlight' but he still believes no matter what happens he will still her the girls luck, and never a burden 'I will be your luck and never your curse' we can tell thoughtout the verses, hes very confused with what is going on with this girl and does not know whats going on. He doenst have any self confidence 'Sometimes this tongue can be betraying' chris has converyed the emssage of tripical love her brilliantly, the story if unrequentied love.

First off i love this song especially the 3 lines leading up to the guitar solo including the guitar solo. and if you are going to babble how you hate a song at least give reasons, dont go blabbing on how you said you hated it on an exam without reasons why you hate it. I can see why you wouldnt like it if you were all about hard rock shit, but i dont know you, so please elaborate the next time you say you hate something, because undefined words are easily mistaken for something they are not meant to be.

Oh come on, this song is so heartfelt, even if it does lack a great style. It's about a guy who is promising his partner that he will always be good for her, and never a bad thing, "even at his worst". He won't let himself be her curse.

really. could there even be a BAD song by Chris Cornell?

This song is definately true. You don't want to screw up a relationship and this song says that very clearly.

ed, get emotional for a minute. okay my minute is over now.

There's something about some of the songs on here that remind me of "Heat" period Jimmy Barnes. Most curious. I'm with the others that this is a pretty nifty song - ok it's not the best one. It's a love song, without having said that. There's a lot of people that can't/won't say that word, so maybe this is his way. There's also a double edged to the structure of the chorus, he could be saying "Don't kid yourself that I will be your luck." instead of the interpretation of "Don't kid yourself cause I will be your luck"

Anyway, I'm waffling.

And if our paths forget to cross It doesn’t mean you’re lost

if "this" doesnt work out, remember that everything works out in the end.

sometimes it sounds like he's saying "and as your laughing at the moonlight, dont you kill yourslef."

I think this and #1 zero are both about some girl that was too high for some guy (Chris Cornell maybe, although he could get a lot) to get.

Does anyone get this line?

And as I’m howling at the moonlight, don’t you kid yourself

^^

He's trying to get the girl to think that he's not a bad/crazy or whatever..That's why "I will be your luck" comes in...?
