Right Here Lyrics

I know I've been mistaken
But just give me a break
And see the changes that I've made
I've got some imperfections
But how can you collect them all
And throw them in my face

But you always find a way
To keep me right here waiting
You always find the words to say
To keep me right here waiting
If you chose to walk away
I'd still be right here waiting
Searching for the things to say
To keep you right here waiting

I hope you're not intending
To be so condescending
It's as much as I can take
And you're so independent
You just refuse to bend
So I keep bending 'till I break

But you always find a way
To keep me right here waiting
You always find the words to say
To keep me right here waiting
If you chose to walk away
I'd still be right here waiting
Searching for the things to say
To keep you right here waiting

I've made a commitment
I'm willing to bleed for you
I needed fulfillment
I found what I need in you
Can't you just forgive me
I don't want to relive all the mistakes
I've made along the way

But I always find a way
To keep you right here waiting
I always find the words to say
To keep you right here waiting

But you always find a way
To keep me right here waiting
You always find the words to say
To keep me right here waiting
And if I chose to walk away
Would you be right here waiting
Searching for the things to say
To keep me right here waiting

I think dannymp3 is exactly right. its like hes saying we've both fucked this up before, we've both left before, but we're both still here. if i leave, you'll wait, if you leave- i'll wait. in the song the two obviously have issues with each other... her throwing his mistakes in his face- unable to let them go, him having made those mistakes in the first place. this song is like a commentary on my life with my on again, off again relationship with my first love. sweet song :-)

@anewkindof_me yep i agree its a very poisonous relationship, but they keep saying the right things to come back. shes independent she dont need help, but he keeps trying till he breaks.

They're torturing each other. It's killing them but they can't let go. They love each other too much to give up yet. It's a beautiful song.

What I mean is that, he is obsessed by this girl, she is mean and takes advantage of him/he did wrong in the past. He loves here so much he keeps coming back for more. He is always waiting for her, her love & kindness. But he is left on his own waiting for it.... it never turns up.

But she never does come to where he is waiting, although she might hint it. Hence the dreamy like 'But I always find a way..' bit. He says mistakes he made along the way then that bit, meaning he believed her lies. and him thinking it will work, but the real chorus comes back and it's the same again. 'but you always find a way to keep me right here waiting' means his love for her is the 'reason' he stays waiting

I get other peoples interpretations, but listen to the verses, it doesn't fit the 'reciprocated love', but someone who is pain 'I keep bending till I break'. What kind of loving wife/partner, collects imperfections and throws them in there husband's/lover's face? Or can't forgive them...

It's NOT a romantic song! Fits Staind's music style as well this way!

This is an awesome song. I love the guitar and drums for this song. The lyrics are emotional and moving.

My Opinion

Also, I'm pretty sure it's:

"But just give me a break and"

Not:

"But just give me a breaking"

I have recently formed a connection with this song. It reminds me of how I continue to wait and work with my close friend as we try to establish more than just a friendship. Like Nearly every staind song I listen to. I can form a connection with this one.

Memory

Alright the beginning of the song is perfect for me and this girl. I've messed up twice. I've made changes i know i have for the better. She just keeps reminding me of them and thats why we cant be together at this point. She never just ends it though always says things to make me think it could be us again. She always finds a way to keep me there waiting for her. At this point in time though she walked away. Im constantly searching for things to say to her to keep her close and to never forget me and i will always wait for her no matter what. I know she doesnt mean to and she has told me that she hasnt tried me be mean or feel superior to me after the stuff that ive done but i know why she does it. Shes hurt really bad and its my fault. She wants to be able to do her own things and think for herself and never wants to feel hurt even though she does. I take that burden of the guilt and the hurt and ive almost broken into little pieces. I never break though. Everytime im about to lose it she says something or does something that just keeps me going keeps me wanting her more and more. When i did those horrible things i didnt think that she was the one for me. Now i realize that that is far from the truth. I want that commitment to her again. I would do anything for her at anytime of the day or night. I finally seen her for what i want and it is killing me that i cant have her right now. I want her to forgive me for what ive done and i know it will be hard but i dont want to do the things that ive done ever again. She always finds away to keep me right here waiting.

I think it's about hurting your own life by waiting for an ex that you still love. Then once you finally get over them they decide they still love you but you no longer do.

It's about this girl who dumped a guy, but he still loves her and is always trying to find ways to get her back or at least know if she still cares, hence:

If you chose to walk away, I'd still be right here waiting searching for the words to say to keep you right here waiting.

I've made a commitment, I'm willing to bleed for you. I needed fulfillment, I found what I need in you.

If I chose to walk away, would you be right here waiting, searching for the words to say to keep me right here waiting?

I believe the song perfectly fits the description of a narcissist. It can be a relationship with parents, romantic partners, friends who are narcissists. Throwing mistakes in someone’s face constantly and acting like you never made a mistake yourself could be self entitlement or interpersonally exploited behavior. Condescending, arrogance. Refusing to bend and making them to be the ones who keeps bending until they break, excessive admiration and refusal to admit fault. Saying that you’ll be right here waiting is indicative of being a victim of a narcissist and heavily influenced by them, the narcissist cycle, a pattern of harmful behaviors used by one person to manipulate and exploit another. It usually consists of the four stages: idealization, devaluation, discard, and hoover. Why would a narcissist still be right there waiting? It could be that they get what they want from you or they’re looking for vengeance since they have this grandiose of self importance if the person leaves them because, how dare they? And in the case of vengeance, the same narcissist cycle will happen.
