I walk halfway around the world
Just to sit down by your side
And I would do most anything girl
To be the apple of your eye
Troubles they may come and go but good times never go
If the road gets rocky girl just steady as we go

Anyplace you want to go you go you know
I'll be next to you treasure you're looking for
I've searched the whole world
Through the trouble they may come and go but good times never go
So if the road gets rocky girl just steady as we go

When the storm comes shelter me
I don't say a word anymore and you know exactly what I mean
In the darkest times you shine on me
Set me free forgive me
Steady as we go
So if you heart runs dry my love
I will fill your cup
And if your load gets heavy girl
I will lift you up
But troubles they may come and go
But good times be the gold
So if the road gets rocky girl
Just steady as we go

Shine shine, shine on me hey

I love this song....Dave spoke about it and said, although i don't remember the direct quote.....some songs are about love with a little bit of death in 'em, others are about death with a little bit of love in 'em....but this is just a love song

I adore this song, very sweet. He obviously loves this person and the song is about how he would do anything to be with her because when with her he can be himself and she understand everything. Also I love the chorus!

Troubles they may come and go, But good times be the gold. And if this road gets rocky girl, Just steady as we go.

such a feel good tone to it all

You don't quit on love, when things get rough. If you have that gold, it's worth it to hang on. It's about being there for each other, no matter what.

I saw him for the first time live last night at va beach and of course i cried the whole time he sang this song...it just gets to me and i think its just about how he'll always be there for her no matter what they go through:

So if your heart rings dry my love, I will fill your cup. And if your load gets heavy girl, I will lift you up.

    its beautiful

dave mind is the "world". going halfway around the world is changing you mind 180 degrees. to match the position being in anothers eye.

this song intro "hunger for the greater light"..

if daves mind is the earth and his "hunger is towards the "greater light""..firther the idea.

.the lesser light is the word and the greater light is the spirit.

as dave is the captain of his "world" he aligns his focus of the lesser light "word" and the greater light "spirit" until they are one light. then he knows he is "on course"...

steady as she goes...sticking with daves theological renderings..lining up the "word" (bible) and the " spirit" together as they witness each others light.

I think this song would make a great first dance for a wedding....probably will be for mine.

My friend played this song before his wedding. It was really nice, I had never heard it before but I thought it was fitting.

This song makes me cry every time I hear it. It;s the way that he says that he will help her through everything and make her burdens lighter that gets to me more than anything.

So if your heart rings dry my love, I will fill your cup. And if your load gets heavy girl, I will lift you up.

Gourgeous song- best 1 on the album by far.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
