Roses for the Dead Lyrics
Just to say we're sorry
For the black eyes and bleeding lips
And it's hard to forget
How many lies we told
Or how old we'd grow
Before i said goodbye
so let's scrape our knees on the playground
It's not your fault
You feel okay
It's too late in the day
It's not your fault
you feel betrayed
You can't come out to play
I never listened to a word you never said
Wasting the hours now
We're all suckers for tragedies
and start this over again
and you bring us to our knees
As sunrise comes
and the story will sell
A few hundred papers
so we'll follow you up
So raise your hands up high and let this rain pour on
So raise your hands up high and wash us away
Like innocence and childbirth
you look just like your mother
you look just like your father
forgive him our father
your son is smiling
so lay roses around you
For the black eyes and bleeding lips
And it's hard to forget
How many lies we told
Or how old we'd grow
Before i said goodbye
so let's scrape our knees on the playground
You feel okay
It's too late in the day
It's not your fault
you feel betrayed
You can't come out to play
I never listened to a word you never said
We're all suckers for tragedies
and start this over again
and you bring us to our knees
and the story will sell
A few hundred papers
so we'll follow you up
So raise your hands up high and wash us away
you look just like your mother
you look just like your father
forgive him our father
your son is smiling
so lay roses around you

The video makes me cry, it's so depressing
the video is basically the boy walking up to the top of a building to kill himself in the past tense && then the woman clearing out the room is his mum in the future, like after he died get it?
This is is about the death of close friends. In the Kerrang mag Matt says how he saw everyone else grieving but he felt weird because he wasn't crying and he just took everything in. He payed to tribute to those people with this song
It's one of my favourite ever FFAF songs ever. It has to be released some point after Streetcar, possibly around the same time as the album is released
matt davies on roses for the dead a heavy song, but not in the way metal is typically considered to be "heavy" . This is about the death of close friends; I saw my friends and family all grieving but I didn't know how to react. I felt odd because I wasn't crying, I sat there and took it all in. I wanted to pay tribute to the memory of those people, who I missed so much, and to express that Gareth davies on Roses For The Dead *For me its hard to listen to. The boy is pouring his heart out there
this song rocks, I think the new cd it's gonna be great
Gives me goosebumps everytime I listen to it. Matts screams at the end are great, he's got such a versatile voice. One of my favourites off the album by far
AWESOME INTRO! .. AWESOME SONG FULL STOP!!! xx
Some lines are wrong, the lyrics should be-
"Just to say we're sorry For the black eyes and bleeding lips And it's hard to forget How many lies we told Or how old we'd grow Before i said goodbye so let's scrape our knees on the playground
It's not your fault You feel okay It's too late in the day It's not your fault you feel betrayed You can't come out to play I never listened to a word you never said

Great song. the album booklet says it is "dedicated to the memory of lianne davies and lloyd bird, eternally loved and never forgotten". Clearly a song about the death of loved ones... (which fits perfectly with the name funeral for a friend btw)
Thought they might be. Some of the live version lyrics sound slightly different to the album version, just changed it, thanks man!
Dear lord that ending is fantastic...and the way he sings "follow you up" makes me wanna headbang like a machine! Seriously, I want to start a family with this album, I love it that much!
