Watch the scene bend as my white face cut the skies like daggers
Face you towards the wall, you can't function but
You move a hobby
Reaching to the whore, step around the leash, to find the lobby
It seems you've locked the door
See an angel and you lose your body
My god,
It's an angel
It's an angel
It's an angel
We had a date, at least I'm not a porn sleaze
Isabelle, Isabelle, can't you hear me I can't tell
They're in the room, like in the first job
Hold me dear, hold me dear, can't you feel they're touched you're in
They'd return to throne, let them serve in battle
Hands devoured!
Take them back their homes, let their minds go where
There flights can't take them!
Please you've got two birds, so I highly choose
In the basement!
Get out light the match, if there's angel shadows on the ceiling
My god
It's an angel!
It's an angel!
It's an angel!
Don't have a room, each one's with a prior
Isabelle, Isabelle, we're not talking you're not well
Well likes it goes, it's just they can't hang there
Take them in, save them in, can't you see we're on to plan
On to plan
There've been sadder days (sadder days)
Angels (what?)
Sadder days, the angels, (meh, friggin' angels)
Starting, to rotting, and knotting pretty angels
They're starting, to rotting, and nodding pretty angels
They're starting, to rotting, and nodding pretty angels
They're starting, to rotting, and nodding pretty angels
Pretty angels
Grab the bitches throat
Then she'll see the light
To leave the shudder
Please shed up the dog, we don't want them chasing
We, fat chance
Break me off a piece, for there's an angel with
A hand that's open
Like not angel to eat, said the lady to
The ground, he then ate him
Some Christ pie
It's the angel
It's your angel
Your angel
How did they get cloned we've seen all your plant seeds
Isabelle, Isabelle, you're not with me when I plant
What about that pie, such is all that I know
It's a shame, it's a shame, it's just you're not on to the plan, on to the plan
Some peoples eyes are too itsy bitsy I'm so sorry
French braids will crack a window and the wind might say
The birds are callin' for you please don't follow

The title, La Rapet, is taken from a character in a short story by Guy de Maupassant called The Devil. The story is about an old woman, called La Rapet, who is paid a flat rate to watch over a farmer's dying mother. After 3 days La Rapet fears that she'll lose profits if she watches over the woman any longer, and tells her stories about the devil until she's on edge. Then she dresses like her description of the devil and gives the farmer's mother a heart attack. It's a really cool story, and both the farmer and La Rapet are extremely materialistic about the ordeal.

Anyway, I think the person from whose perspective these lyrics are written sees himself as La Rapet, and feels a bit guilty but also freed from a burden. The song is clearly about the death of Isabelle. In the end he is putting away her clothes and such. I love the line, "Some people's lives awake to itsy bitsy I'm so sorries."

The first part of the song is a little confusing to me, though. I suppose it sets things up. It appears as though Isabelle suffers from insanity, or is dying because of the man. He talks about freeing chances and setting up the ball and seeing the angel. I think he wants to get rid of Isabelle to be with the angel. Or something similiar.

Thanks for putting this up here... feel free to post the other ones from the forum too... I'm too lazy, especially with the songmeanings loadtimes being slow as they are lately.

Let me just warn that there's a good chance I got about half the words wrong here.

Really like this song though... If the words are right, then I guess it's kind of just a short story... And the alternative high pitch/low pitch voices have a conflicting opinion on what to do with these "angels"... one of them wants to keep them, the other wants to get rid of them... and eventually they get fed to the guy in a pie.

Well, in a less literal way, i always saw the album (spirit they've gone spirit they've vanished) as a sort of concept album about childhood and the loss of innocence.

so the song to me is sort of like the moment that innocence is lost. it's kinda abstract and i dont know how to really explain it, but it makes sense to me

Official lyrics straight from Avey Tare him-self

Its what you see in men, does my rugged face cut scars like daggers Faces on the wall we cant touch you but you move our hobby reach into the hall step around the feast and find the lobby open up the door see an angel and youll lose your body

Picking out a name, stretching out on your sheets isabelle isabell cant you hear me i cant tell Is the devil in the room is he hiding in the first drawer hold me dear hold me dear cant you feel me touch your ear

Meat was on the Bone, but the children huddled and devoured Keep them in the home let their minds go where their bikes cant take them flinching finds me first so ill hide till she is in the basement when i light the match touching angels shadows on the ceiling

racing round the room your forehead is on fire isabelle isabelle their all talking your not well looking like a ghost doctors shaking their heads say my name say my name cant you hear me im to blame

(theyre have been sadder days...) starting to rotting..pretty angel

I think this is one of the most underrated songs on the album. Its my clear favorite, and I love the first lines. Just such a breathtaking song.

    the Phantom warped her brain

this doesnt sound right to me... i feel it sounds like "Phantom warped the bride".

    "i'm the phantom"

Does anybody else agree that this doesn't sound right either? it sounds more like Panther... that can't be right, but he really accentuates the 'P' sound.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
