I don't know if its about someone he's not with anymore or someone that has passed away. but its about how he will miss them till the day he dies.

I think it's about an old relationship. An old girlfriend that he'll always love but is trying to forget. Everyone has that type of relationship at some point, Dierks just puts it much more eloquently.
I saw him concert and he played this song and it was so amazing. He said it was a song about how one day your not going to miss that person you loved. pretty much about a beakup
this song is about a guy who is really emotionaly attached and really struggling to release the fact that his loved one has died but he does understand that one day he will be in eaven with is loved one but it will take some work to remain saved.
