Yes, rather than be about a lover, I tend to think this song is about someone very special dying. It tears me up every time-this song is beautiful.

Wow, this song is really beautiful and I can
t help but put it on repeat. This song is about someone whos going on with life without someone they love, yet they are still trying to live life to the fullest and is applying everything he has learned from the other person's love. He is saying that this person will always have a part in their heart. I LOVE the line "even though for now we`ve got to say goodbye" because after all . . . some people like to believe that goodbyes are not forever. =) I would say this would be a sort of continuation of the story from their song Incomplete.The persona has "broken up" with his lover, be he still remembers her and hopes that one day they can be together again.

This song is beautiful. It reminds me of a friend of mine who just passed away. She was the kindest, sweetest person in the world who was taken away in an instant and because she was such a bright light in the lives fo everyone who knew her, I know she will be "never gone".

Brian, from the Backstreet Boys, contributed to write this song because his grandfather died little time before the album was released. everytime they play this in concert, he always dedicated this song to his grandfather. everytime i hear it, i cry, because it reminds me of by grandfather who passed away three months ago...
This song was originally wrote by Kevin years ago when his father passed away in 1991 but never did anything with it, until obv. later on when Brian contributed to it as commented above!
