The Letter Lyrics

I take it all to heart
Don't point the finger
Choose the winner
Hold your own
It's never been always
Who's the liar
I'm the coward
The letter read like this...

Of all the sinners I walk before
I can't deny
Somehow you're seeing it
So you're the one who took the fall
and it's bringing us together
Don't ask me why
Somehow I'm seeing blue
and I'm breaking after all
This could last forever

The choice has always been
To take advantage
ride it to the top
Still I'm caught again
I see this coming
See this coming Through

Of all the sinners I walk before
I can't deny
Somehow you're seeing it
So you're the one who took the fall
and it's bringing us together
Don't ask me why
Some how I'm seeing blue
and I'm breaking after all
This could last forever

We'll see if I start coming clean
You'll see that I'm still missing

I can't deny
Somehow you're seeing it
So you're the one who took the fall
and it's bringing us together
Don't ask me why
Somehow I'm seeing blue

I'm not really sure, but I see this as two people, maybe enemies, are all of a sudden seeing the light in each other and realize that beneath all the layers they really have feelings for each other either way its a really good song

This song rocks. I saw acceptance live before they released phantoms and they rocked hard.

I think it is talking about two people, a believer and a non believer, and they're fighting over who's right. The chorus is saying like, Jesus is over it all and he's bringing these people together for a reason. To me, it means a lot because I'm christian, but my boyfriend isn't. But I can see how God's brought me to him to be a light. "So you're the one who took the fall, and it's bringing us together" describes it perfectly.

well. i think this song is about two friends, or a couple, and they have both decieved eachother. but, one person has come clean and is apologizing and "taking the fall." and the narrator has not told the other person the things he has done, and even though they're getting closer, he feels like a coward. But i think the other person may think the narrator has done something because of the line "i can't deny/ somehow you're seeing it / so you take the fall"

the narraor is also saying he feels really guilty and is getting upset about it, but he's not sure he'll ever come clean, hence "and i'm breaking after all/ this could last forever."

For some reason, when I heard this song and actually understood the lyrics, I immediately thought "Scarlet Letter" mostly because of the first verse and the chorus. I think its alluding to "The Scarlet Letter" because of the first line "I take it all to heart, Don't point the finger" and then "Of all the sinners....Your the one who took the fall"..Anyone who has read the book knows what I'm talking about. For most of the book, Hester Prynne is the only one weighted with the blame of adultery, but Minister Dimmsdale feels just as guilty even though nobody knows he is her lover.

i can see how it could relate to "the scarlett letter", but I also get how the believer/nonbeliever theme fits as well, thats actually what i thought when i first heard the song.

this song is so beautiful. it could really be about a lot of things. i love the line "So you're the one who took the fall/ and it's bringing us together" It could be about a relationship, and like one of them needs to change because for whatever reason it's not working the way things are. So when they "take the fall" they finally make the change to make things work, which brings them together. it's painful probably, and really hard, but it is what saves them
