Remedy Lyrics

Throw your dollar bills and leave your thrills all here with me
Speak but don't pretend I won't defend you anymore you see
It aches in every bone, I'll die alone, but not for you
My eyes don't need to see that ugly thing, I know it's me you fear
If you want me hold me back

Frail, the skin is dry and pale, the pain will never fail
And so we go back to the remedy
Clip the wings that get you high, just leave them where they lie
And tell yourself, 'You'll be the death of me'

I don't need a friend, I need to mend so far away
So come sit by the fire and play a while, but you can't stay too long
It aches in every bone, I'll die alone, but not for pleasure
I see my heart explode, it's been eroded by the weather here
If you want me hold me back

Frail, the skin is dry and pale, the pain will never fail
And so we go back to the remedy
Clip the wings that get you high, just leave them where they lie
And tell yourself, 'You'll be the death of me'
Frail, the skin is dry and pale, the pain will never fail
And so we go back to the remedy
Clip the wings that get you high, just leave them where they lie
And tell yourself, 'You'll be the death of me'

Hold your eyes closed, take me in
Hold your eyes closed, take me in

Frail, the skin is dry and pale, the pain will never fail
And so we go back to the remedy
Clip the wings that get you high, just leave them where they lie
And tell yourself, 'You'll be the death of me'
Frail, the skin is dry and pale, the pain will never fail
And so we go back to the remedy
Clip the wings that get you high, just leave them where they lie
And tell yourself, 'You'll be the death of me'

The meaning I get from this song, is about being in a relationship with someone who made you a better person. This relationship appears to be deteriorating and the person doesn't want to return to what they were before ("If you want me- hold me back").

Although they don't want to return, they find it is the only cure to ease their pain. ("Frail, the skin is dry and pale, the pain will never fail And so we go back to the remedy"). Be it drugs, alcohol, or whatever it was in their past that their ex couldn't stand and helped them recover from-- which appears to be with much exasperation ("And tell yourself, 'You'll be the death of me'").

Also, it seems like their ex wants to remain friends and help them cope with their problems, but it's too painful for the person speaking ("I don't need a friend, I need to mend so far away").

These are just my opinions and what I get from the lyrics, anyway.

i belive it means this this song is about lead singer shaun morgan's addictions. "the remedy" the metaphore for the addiction, and in the second half of the chorus morgan sings of freeing oneself from addiction. "clip the wings that get you high, and leave them where you lie"

thats just what i think :P

sorry i mean where (they) lie

I figured out what this song is about with a couple of my friends. Listen closely. This song is about drug abuse. "If you want me hold me back"- translates into- if you love me, don't let me do drugs

"Frail, the skin is dry and pale, the pain will never fail, and so we go back to the remedy"- translates into- Drugs will never fail me (the pain will never fail), and so i go back to the anti drug (and so we go back to the remedy).

This is where it gets...

Not to play devil's advocate, but I think you're all wrong!! muahaha! Well, not really, I personally think that this song has nothing to do with any of the afore stated meanings.

In my opinion, this song is about Shaun telling people he isn't going to sell out. It's him saying I am who I am, so get used to it.

For example, throw your dollar bills and leave your thrills all here with me. Meaning the fans pay to see them in concert.

And speak, but don't pretend I won't defend you anymore you see. Meaning that they won't sell out, so don't worry about that ever happening.

"It aches in every bone, i'll die alone, but not for you. My eyes don't need to see, that ugly thing, I know it's me you fear. If you want me hold me back." - Meaning being yourself on stage hurts, and you are set on a pulpit for the masses when you're a star, so you'll most likely die alone with noone truely understanding you. And he says he's not going to die for you. He is doing this because it's what he is. The eyes not needing to see that ugly thing could mean that the ugly thing is them selling out, how fans would say that they are selling out. If you want me hold me back refers to them needing true fans to help them out and tell them they aren't going to sell out.

The whole chorus is about Shaun telling the fans that he is frail, he's only human. Rumors about him takes its' tole on him. And if you take it in biological aspects, selling out is the disease, and not being sold out is the remedy. So he's saying the fans saying he's sold out makes him weak and frail, so he hs to go and prove to them that he hasn't.

The clip the wings that make you high could be talking to the people who say he's selling out, and telling them that they should just sit down and shut up, because they're wrong.

I don't need a friend, I need to mend so far away. So come sit by the fire and play a while, but you can't stay too long. This could refer to the lives of the rich and famous. I think this means that he is in the fans perspective. Because that is what fans do, they have a band of the month pretty much, meaning that once they are bored with Seether, they'll move on. But I don't think Seether minds that, as he returns to himself saying So? Come sit with me, and enjoy me for however long you want. Just don't make me work hard for you too long, and don't expect great things out of me forever.

So yeah, that's my take on it. Just thought i'd share in this Remedy chat!

This seems to be an interaction between an addict and his drug of choice (probably heroin).

Let's disect.

-- "Throw your dollar bills and leave your thrills all here with me" The drug is saying to buy it. The addict does and throws all attempt at happiness down the drain to get loaded.

-- "Speak but don't pretend I won't defend you anymore you see" The drug has taken over the addict's body and isn't working to shield the pain the addict is avoiding.

-- "It aches in every bone," Heroin shuts down the brain's ability to feel pain. Take it away and the pain is unbelievable.

-- "I'll die alone, but not for you" The addict is telling the drug he knows he's doomed, but he's doing it to himself, not for the drug.

-- "My eyes don't need to see that ugly thing, I know it's me you fear" The addict has run away from his pain. As a result, he fears himself.

-- "If you want me hold me back" The drug is telling the addict to draw the drug into the needle.

-- "Frail, the skin is dry and pale, the pain will never fail" This is an hardcore addict's life, body and well-being. Look at Layne Staley before he died and what he said in Adriana Rubio's book.

-- "And so we go back to the remedy" To deal with the life the addict has, he uses the drug as a remedy.

-- "Clip the wings that get you high, just leave them where they lie" The addict's knows that the drug is doing no good for him, so he's trying to convince himself to stop.

--"And tell yourself, 'You'll be the death of me'" The drug is too powerful

-- "I don't need a friend, I need to mend so far away" Heroin addicts tend to live in isolation, consumed by the drugs that overtake them.

-- "So come sit by the fire and play a while, but you can't stay too long" The cooking fire. His only friend in the heroin but it won't be heroin for long.

-- "It aches in every bone, I'll die alone, but not for pleasure" Dying of a heroin addiction is not a pleasurable experience. The effects of long term, hardcore use take away from the supposed good effects.

-- "I see my heart explode, it's been eroded by the weather here" This is the addict's desperation. Weather is usually a metaphor for emotions.

-- "Hold your eyes closed, take me in Hold your eyes closed, take me in" The addict gives into the addiction and finally mainlines the heroin into the bloodstream.

I really see this as a drug song. Not as direct as Alice in Chains' work, but good none the less.

Wow, at first I thought it was about drugs. I mean you can relate just about about every line to drugs. The first time I heard this, what stuck out to me was...

"Clip the wings that get you high, just leave them where they lie And tell yourself, 'You'll be the death of me'"

...I think that means get rid of what is getting you high, and just leave them behind and never look back. And then the 2nd line in that is where he is trying to tell himself that, and tries to convince himself that this was the right choice.

But I think you guys are right with the whole relationship thing.
