I love this song too. It was amazing live... the second verse does it for me.
Idk, to me this is what i got out of it. Kinda clear to me, but this is how i understood it. Seems to me that he's talking about being with his girl or w/e, and that they need to break up or something, but he can't let go. so he's trying to find some peace, because he needs to let go, but can't. idk. maybe im way off...?

this song reminds of what Confucious said about first having inner peace, then there can be peace in the whole world. but it all starts with having peace within oneself.
THe more i listen to make believe, the more i like it. this is my new favorite. its not catchy like the other way or beverly hills, but it is just a great song.
just from what i have gatherd, im think before the making of this album rivers turned his life around and began a more religious life style, but i know he gave up sex, and to my knowledge i would think thats what this song is about. how hard it was to give up sex but he wanted to because without it he knows he will find "peace" it makes sense to me, but you may have a different view.
I think that this song has a deeper meaning then having sex you terds. It's not very Flattering to you guys.
