The Damage in Your Heart Lyrics

one more time,
i have crossed the line
now you wont be mine
anymore
one more dream
vanished up in smoke
now i have no hope
anymore

let it go,
the damage in your heart
let it go,
the damage in your heart
i cant tell you how the words have made me feel
i cant tell you how the words have made me feel

one more tear, falling down your face
doesnt mean that much
to the world
one more loss
in a losing life
doesnt hurt so bad
anymore

let it go,
the damage in your heart
let it go,
the damage in your heart
i cant tell you how the words have made me feel
i cant tell you how the words have made me feel

one more tear, falling down your face
doesnt mean that much
to the world

let it go,
the damage in your heart
let it go,
the damage in your heart
i cant tell you how the words have made me feel
i cant tell you how the words have made me feel
i cant tell you, i cant tell you
i cant tell you how the words have made me feel

How can I possibly talk about this song without mentioning that it is the first song since Pinkerton that has gotten me choked up?

Seriously, this song is the best new Weezer song in the near nine years since Pinkerton was released. The chords, the lyrics, the vocals; they're just perfect for each other and I feel that it creates a classic song... Rivers just seems to have his heart open throughout the whole record.

I didn't think that Rick Rubin would have this much effect, but to tell the truth, I think without Rick Rubin's guidance, we would have ended up with Maladroit Pt. 2. Meditation and Harvard seemed to have helped Rivers.

It takes a good song to be inspiring and amazing at the same time..... Rivers gave us one HELL of a good song... thank you Rivers for this great album.

I thought Make Believe was their third best album, below Blue n Pinkerton. And yes, this song owns.

I rank MB ahead of Blue but second to Pinkerton (Pinkerton will never be topped)... This song is outstanding, his vocals on this album is incredible.

And one thing I noticed with this album that has been missing on everything since pinkerton, and that is Rivers singing the chorus differently during the song. If you notice on Maladroit and green every chorus is identical. On Blue and Pink, he always altered teh way he sang it. This is the first album since then that I believe Rivers' is wearing his heart on his sleeve.

This song seems like it is reflecting on something sad that happened to to he narrator.

Something that was a part of the author's life isn't as close anymore and he's trying to forget the hurt that it's brought.

Such a great song.

It sounds a lot like he recognizes the pain that is already there.

However, it is the chorus that gets me. He is pointing out to himself and through that, to us to let go of the hurt/pain (it is almost as if he is pleading with himself to just let go of the pain).

But does he?

I absolutely love this song. It's my favorite on the entire record. I love the part where he says "One more tear falling down your face doesn't mean that much to the world" and "I can't tell you how the words have made me feel."
