I think this song is about Identity. From the minute you are born, the majority of children are raised the way that their parents have been told is socially acceptable for the best results. At a point in a child's life, in the early/late teens, most people being to question where they fit in... are they really the creature that their parents and society have created or are they their own individual person?
In the process of losing innocence, the child's actual experiences clash head on with their perceptions of how things should be based on the limited amount of things they're actually told and exposed to. This can lead to an identity crisis. So, the entire analogy of the robot-man or whatever might be referring to the way society and parents mold you vs. your own actual thoughts and perceptions.

NightPride911 is right. Casey wrote this song about being a robot. Half of their songs have very shallow meanings, they're just presented very creatively. See my comment on "The Rival Cycle."
It clearly isn't just about robots, all their songs have something deeper than just the words and the title clearly gives that indication. He uses words like "skin" and "veins" to show the relationship between humanity and figurative robot. Robots don't have pulses that reverberate (although their power source could be seen as that) nor a malleable shell, they are usually built tough. And he also says conductive, which goes along with comingclean's analysis of experiences molding the person.

Sweet song. I love when he says "flee the factory." The whole song is good, but I think there are better written songs by TREOS than this one. Still sweet.
anthony green is towards the end when they "my pulse reverberates through this malleable shell" and you hear anothony's very high pitched voice. i love it.
It's not about a robot. According to the band at a concert I went to a few weeks back, it's about not feeling anymore, specifically because of being desensitized.
yeah.. anthony green also sing back up vocals on the track "THE EPILOGUE" this is a cool band... i think their still searchiing for a new singer.. not sure though
The 2nd comment by hydraulic_heart is so wrong. Their songs do not have shallow meanings. I can understand the robot idea in that everyone tries to be the same and its almost as if their robots but the whole concept of this album is breaking out of old habits, and changing into who you want to be... hint Flee the Factory.
