This STILL happens... happening now to some of by best friends. ATleast I was 18 when this happened.
Why has nobody commented on this? It's about a relationship that has always been very one sided, and now because the man has decided he's tired of the woman, and tells her where to get off. He's started seeing another woman with long black hair, but instead of feeling angry the main character just submisses and accepts that her time is over, even though it's tearing her apart.

This song is great! So many of these rap songs are sexual and you can't let younger people listen to them, but this is clean. It reminds me of a jump rope chant, so cute!
i Think the song is written from a jilter lover's persepctive. Basically, it seems that the person who this song is directed at wronged the narrator in some way and now the protagonist is looking down at the person who they once loved and admired
i must admit i remember when i split up with my ex this song brought me thru it, coz she was basically the lipgloss girl, loved herself, thought she was great , could get anyone, would use anybody, etc etc. this song just reminded me that things do change and that if she carried on the way she was going then she'd end up like the sad cow in this song

Pretty straightforward, it's a song about a woman's relationship collapsing and her having to come to terms with it. In many ways it's a quintessential Pulp song, there's something very ordinary about the subject matter (potentially the girl Jarvis is addressing could be a socialite or celebrity but you can't help but think it's a 30-something woman living in a pokey flat and doing a mundane job) and Jarvis Cocker indulges his usual obsessions about day-to-day life without becoming detached or sneery.
