To me this song is about being so close to getting someone who you are infactuated withs attention but then again, being so far away. Everything you do for the person, whether they no it or not, hardly means nothing to them and it akes you go crazy 'cause you can't get them to feel the same way...
i love this song. he wants to be with someone but she doesnt realize it. and she might be involved with someone else because he said 'i dont care about his confidences/i dont wanna feel that slow' so he wants to be with her if she finds she feels the same way
I think that he and the girl he's singing to were once a couple with each other but now she's with someone else. He misses her and wishes that she feels the same way. For instance, my favorite line, "I just want to be near you when the things we've done come clear to you." He feels like she has forgotten everything that they've done together, all the good things while they were together.
Also, the part where he says "Making you a promise that I'll go out swinging while I'm out singing this song for us." I guess they both decided on the separation.. and he told her that he would try to move on, but really he's missing her and still wants to be with her.
