Storm Lyrics

If you wanted to,
...say you wanted to...
If you wanted to save the world
Where could you start? How could you start?
If you wanted to feel like I feel
...like I feel
You're running dry...
...I'm flying high
We're running on feel
You wanted to be, what you've never been before
We worked hard for a living
We worked hard for it all
You run and hide,
...don't run and hide
I'm starting to feel OK
But I'm wasted
And I'm failing
Oh Tracy please
Can't you see?
It's just me
I wanted to feel
What I've never felt before
I was tired of the living
I was tired of it all
Time, time
...it's only...time.
If we wanted to,
...say we wanted to...
If we wanted to save our world
I'm waiting here, waiting
Waiting here baby please...
STAY WITH ME
We wanted to be
What we've never been before
But are we tired of the living?
...Are we tired of the war?

This song/album/artist is so fucking great. I can't believe Devin is kinda unknown. This album is really pure 100% gold.

I agree with the above poster's explanation. Accelerated Evolution is a theme album about relationships, so the explanation fits pretty well.

Catchy song. One of the more accessible off of the album, but the entire album is more accessible than most of his work, IMO.

I can't believe I'm the first one to comment on this song. Jeeze...people need to start listening to Devin Townsend. This song sounds pretty, I love it! I think the song could possibly be about two people who decide to split up but then he realizes that he wants to stay with her... she is the one for him. So now he is trying to get back together but their lives are very different. I could be really really wrong about this. Its just what I thought about when I heard the song.

Definitely sounds like its about his wife (mentions her by name). I think it's about Devy's career taking up so much of his life, and that all the two want is to spend time together. His wife is tired of it, and he is trying to tell her to give it just a little more time. "The living" seems to be the same thing as "the war": A hectic lifestyle in the public eye.

No idea how much dough Mr. Townsend has, but if I were him I'd probably retire right about now. I'm not too worried about running out of new Townsend music to listen to either. The man's put out ten times the content of the average musician.

@bananaphone05 It's good to read this comment 14 years later and think about how much Devin had to give us, and luckily for him (and us) in his best state of mind.

That thoughts of this is about a relationship is right but is so obvious, devin is not obvious most of the time. That song tells me somehow that devin was thinking something like "people feel a need of change and it's all about time they return to your roots, your feelings, these things", but it's in some parts. In the beginning also I've got it, where he says "if you wanted to save the world... where could you start?... if tou wanted to feel like I feel", that he means "if you can save the world why not start to helping me?". In "Are we tired of the living? Are we tired of the war?" I got it how if the people is always runing away of life, of the war that the life is.

This song is about using drugs to deal with life instead of committing suicide, as it can seem like the only way, but unfortunately you can get messed up and have trouble functioning in society and family, and people just start giving up on you.
