why don't you use your knives
continue to stick them in my face
leave them to be our memories
that I plan to lose just like I lose you
I guess I'll just cope with what I can't control
after all, it means the best for the both of us
at night when you hear me breathing
under the covers is where you'll find me
trying to escape your endless reign of terror
stale sweat running all over my body
I'm drowning in my dreams
I can't wake now
I'll sleep forever
what if tomorrow never comes
how will I know you loved me
I just need something to live for
so I'll never die again

i love this song. i think tritexxwhore pretty much got the meaning of it. it's like a break up and he's angry, but he's trying to convince himself it's the best for both of them. yeah. pretty obvious.

well it kinda reminds me of what im going through right now.

my exboyfriend said we were on a "break" ....

"what if tomorrow never comes? how will i know you loved me?"

and now he's kinda giving me mixed signals. actin like he likes me on second and then not the other "why don't you use you knives continue to stick them in my face"

the girl in this song obviuosly doesn't know what she wants. and in doing so she continues to hurt him. he knows he should get over her but he really loved her. thts just my opinion though.

i don't have anything remotely constructive to input about the lyrics or the meaning. but the bass at 0.50secs makes me actually come.

im pretty sure the movie sound clip of "Death... is only the beginning" is from The Mummy with brendan fraiser. it would have been released around the time these kids wrote the song in high school right?

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
