AWESOME SONG can't believe no one posted...easily my favorite on the new CD...BUY THIS CD!

havent quite figured out what the song means yet..

Hey I just noticed but this song is supposed to be #13 on the CD but is #14. Am I the only one slow to notice (even with the elevator theme and all)? This is one of my fav songs on the CD. I thought this song was about a guy cheating on a girl because he's living somewhere else. And the girl should've known it was going to happen because he has done it before. It also feels if he blames her for his actions. I hate how it sounds like he only caused a small little accident as if spilling a glass of milk and the problem can be cleaned up easily (and easily forgotten). But it can't.

Yeah i agree it has to do with someone cheating on someone...I think the guy is getting cheated on by a girl while he is away somewhere and knows what's going on but can't do anything about it. and when he asks her about it she gets nervous and tries to cover it up......not too sure though

its #14 cuz #13 is four seconds of noise. lol... funny.

I think this is a song about a man who really loves his girlfriend, yet moves away for a while. He is so wrapped up in worry about losing her he cant enjoy anything.(It turned my rain clouds in to rainbows But I couldn't even tell). While he was away she cheated on him. His only mistake was leaving her. Now hes no longer there she has no one.

this song is definately my favourite on the album, it describes perfectly the long distance relantionship i had with my last boyfriend, the line: 'The timing couldn't have been worse for me to be this far away' sums up every long distance relantionship. the song captures perfectly wanting so much to be with a long distance partner that nothing else matters(it turned my rainclouds into rainbows but i couldnt even tell) and when shes not there he cheats on her and ruins the relantionship completely (i didnt mean to but i seemed to have pushed us back to the start) its a really beautiful song.

I feel that this song is not necessarily about cheating. I agree with the long-distance idea. That is the feeling I got from it. I think maybe he had this girl, and then he moved, and they ended it because the distance was too hard. But then, for some reason, the idea of them getting back together comes into play ("Running with scissors wasn't smart / I tripped and cut open your heart / I didn't mean to, but I seem to / Have pushed us back to the start") and now they are back to the hurting of the long-distance thing again.

And I love Hot Hot Heat.

you cant always take the meaning so literally sure it can be about long-distance but it could also mean that hes emotionally distant. the whole runnig w scissors things the scissors could represent somethings dangerous such as love and he rushed into things maybe some dilema occured leaving the other party heartbroken or something like that. because of that he pushed them back ot the start. because he hurt her he in a sense lost her trust "took your trust and set it free" while the long distance/cheating thing is still open thats just my opinion

To me:

He met a girl while traveling, and fell in love with her (your spell cast on me in a motel), but didn’t realize it (turned my rain clouds into rainbows but I couldn’t even tell) and took her for granted/cheated on her (well I was playing show and tell I took your trust and set it free). Immediately afterwards, he realizes just how much she meant to him, and he can’t bring himself to accept the gravity of his errors. Hence the childlike metaphors, and trying to push the blame onto her (shame on you….how can you act surprised)

Running with scissors = having an affair, because it’s dangerous and he knows it’s wrong.

Show and tell = having sex. I don’t think I really need to explain that one.
