Rental Car Lyrics
Hey now girl what's the matter with me
we're on a back road something to see
straight as a razor kickin the dust
diggin thru ditches and fallin to rust
takin me far
far as a rental car can go
hey now girl at the end of the road
down where the reaper is walkin alone
singing a death knell
clappin along
at the end of the night
there's a road we'll be on
takin me far,
far as a rental car can go
we're on a back road something to see
straight as a razor kickin the dust
diggin thru ditches and fallin to rust
far as a rental car can go
down where the reaper is walkin alone
singing a death knell
clappin along
at the end of the night
there's a road we'll be on
far as a rental car can go

My second favorite from Guero. Emergency Exit being first. Anyway...
The song seems to be about preparing to pass through the veil that seperates life and death. When night falls (death), it'll be okay, because there's another road after that (afterlife).
The rental car is his body. He's only borrowing it from the earth, and when he's dead, his body shall turn to dust and return from whence it came. He knows that he can't take it with him after he dies, so dammit, he is going to get as far as he can with it while he can.
I really love the "lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala music" part.
lol i was going to put down what yan yan said but (s)he already beat me to it. Life is as short as a rental car so when death sings clap along.
this song is amazing
HELLO, ONLY THE BEST SONG EVERRR!!!

this is one of my favorite songs. Yay!
takin me far far as a rental car can go
Wow... I'm surprised at how little comments Beck is getting. They've been around for a long time and had a lot of recognition over Guero last year!
Anyway, I love Rental Car. Definitely a feel good song!
Awesome song...well said YanYan

Am I crazy of is that lalala part a sped up version of some other song?
The lalalalalala part reminds me of the theme song to The Smurfs.
xD
