Wolverine Lyrics

Wolverine
Homecoming queen
Took the train
To Pickerel Lake

It's not your fault
It's not your fault
It's not your fault
It's not your fault

It's sold and bought
It's sold and bought
It's sold and bought
It's sold and bought

Take it in stride
Take it in stride
Take it in stride
Take it in stride

Take it in stride
Take it in stride
Take it in stride
Take it in stride

It's not your fault
It's not your fault
It's not your fault
It's not your fault

It's not your fault
It's not your fault
It's not your fault
It's not your fault

This man has an amazing voice, and.. the whistling in this song is ..odd but refreshing.

What is this song about?

Well, I only looked at this song because Wolverine is from X-men (Yes, yes, I know my life is sad...) and he had to go to some lake to find out who he was!!! Maybe Sufjan is a X-men fan? Jean Grey was a HOMECOMING QUEEN.... Hmmm? Is our Sufjan a NERD??? lol :)

at first wen i read your comment sweet amity i was like wow your lame but actually ironically.. this song plays into the whole story line of wolverine and jean grey which i mean im not sure if its sad he wrote a sogn about wolverine or not btu thats probably why this is on the outtakes

To me.. [this may sound lame] but when he talks about the wolverine and the homecoming queen.. I put two and two together and I think of it as one person. You know that you have seen the popular girl at your school (homecoming queen) and you recognized how much of a snob and/or bitch she is (wolverine). Of course this does not refer to all homecoming queens, but im sure you know what I mean. But when he says that she took the train, maybe it is meaning that she is trying to get away from all that. She is sick of all the attention and needs to leave. And it isn't her fault that she is feeling this, but in order to get used to it she must take it slow. I may have no idea what im talking about. But this is how I saw it. haha. :]

sufjan stevens is from michigan. the mascot of the university of michigan in ann arbor is the wolverine. i doubt the song has anything to do with x-men.

This is right. good job meee3. The entire album is about Michigan, a lot of it is anecdotal, but mostly it is about the history, culture, geography, etc.

Oh, sad, sad, sad. It's NOT from X-men and I doubt it's the mascot, although if I'm wrong, that's what I would guess it's about. There is a very very small town in Northern Michigan (where he's written a lot of songs about) called Wolverine. I've been there. The song fits the town.

I love Sufjan because I've been to every place he's described on the album. I love it. All the places are real places. Scary, huh?

And, in the first verse, he mentions Pickeral Lake. I've been there. I've swam in it. In Northern Michigan. More reason I think it's about the town, not the mascot or X-man.

It's on the Greetings from Michigan album, so this makes the most sense to me.

Hey, you shouldn't diss what other people put up on here. It's just a place for idea's, so don't be nasty about tother people's understanding of things. Anyway, how do you know....? Hmm...?
