Tired of being seen as a bird in a cage
Tired of being heard all he did last week
Obviously you want to be me â??cause every time
when I fall you're the first to reveal me

Live for yourself instead
Do me a favour
Feed your empty head
You drive me close to the edge

Everything you say, you say it to annoy me
Watching every move I make whenever I'm around
Everything you do, you do it to destroy me
Waiting for the darkest hour to put me down

Time is gradual, the surface is all you can see
And if I told you the truth you will not understand me

Feed your empty head
Do me a favour
Live for yourself instead
You drive me close to the edge

Everything you say, you say to annoy me
Watching every move I make whenever I'm around
Everything you do, you do it to destroy me
Waiting for the darkest hour to put me down

You drive me close to the edge
You drive me close to the edge

this is a great song,,, and i really dont (truthfully) know what it means , but here it goes

im thinking its about his (Lauri's) relationship with his parents, when he dropped out of school, cus what i have read about him i dont think his parents cared for him verry much and when he dropped out that must have made them mad, so i figured that when people are mad at people they just seem to put people down. so yeah thats what i think, but dont take my word for it

    and VIVA LA FINLAND

hmm i dunno about that, sounds possible though i guess... It seems as though it would be something like that, for example MY interpretation of it; for me; when i listen to it and sing it, I feel like I'm singing it to my mum...

omg, cozsheep, me toooooooo! All the time!

I agree with you, AndLoveSaidNo446, it does sound like he is singing to his parents. I know it would be to my mom.

    I love this song.

I think it might be about someone like a friend or an acquaintance that is jealous of him and does whatever they can to try to be like him. And when he makes a mistake that person jumps on it fast to make himself look better than him.

I don't know. I could be wrong, but that's just how I looked at the song.

I change my answer. It's not to his parents. I think it's about the media.

Tired of being seen as a bird in a cage (All celebrities aren't seen as what they are.) Tired of being heard all he did last week (The Media really likes picking on what the person did every hour of every day.) Obviously you want to be me ‘cause everytime when I fall you're the first to reveal me (Well, that's an obvious line.)

Live for yourself instead Do me a favour Feed your empty head You drive me close to the edge (Basically, stop picking on my life and everything I do, and live your life, not mine. Or, more simply, 'Go away!')

Everything you say, you say to annoy me Watching every move I make whenever I'm around (Well, that one's pretty obvious too.) Everything you do, you do it to destroy me (Destroy his career, his relationships, just by saying, 'Seen at a party, did some stupid stuff, and we have full coverage!') Waiting for the darkest hour to put me down (Making something out of nothing. He's in a bad mood, and they assume he's breaking up with someone, or they hear something he says and they say something entirely different. Making a mountain out of a molehill.)

Time is gradual, the surface is all you can see (Again, like the first line, they can't see ~him~, but only what's on the outside.) And if I told you the truth you will not understand me (Again, if he was in a bad mood and told them what happened, they'd be like, "OMG! SOMEONE DIED!")

    So... yeah.

Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
