Looks Just Like The Sun Lyrics
Looks just like the sun
Looks just like you
Looks just like the sun
Looks just like it
But it looks just like the sun
Looks just like it
But a breathing, thinking one
Heart is pounding in his chest
Reaches suddenly for his gun
Should be sailing in the west
Flower that could be his fun
Tree of families on his head
Weary red, split open eyes
I'm on the corner, thinking 'bout my bed
He just stands still and signifies
Looks just like
And it looks just like it
Looks just like the sun
Looks just like it
Looks just like the sun
And it looks just like it
But I'm breathing, thinking one
Gold and red the colors change as you can't forget
Turning back, you know I thought I knew, thought I knew someone
You better check your watch
I think it's time you left
In darkness still, it's obvious to everyone
Darkness, still, it's obvious to everyone
Still it's obvious to every
Well it looks just like
Looks just like it
Looks just like the sun
Looks just like it
Looks just like the sun
Looks just like it
Looks just like the sun
Looks just like you
Looks just like the sun
Looks just like it
But it looks just like the sun
Looks just like it
But a breathing, thinking one
Reaches suddenly for his gun
Should be sailing in the west
Flower that could be his fun
Weary red, split open eyes
I'm on the corner, thinking 'bout my bed
He just stands still and signifies
And it looks just like it
Looks just like the sun
Looks just like it
Looks just like the sun
And it looks just like it
But I'm breathing, thinking one
Turning back, you know I thought I knew, thought I knew someone
You better check your watch
I think it's time you left
Darkness, still, it's obvious to everyone
Still it's obvious to every
Looks just like it
Looks just like the sun
Looks just like it
Looks just like the sun
Looks just like it

I always take songs in a very interpersonal way, even if it is self-centered because that's how I connect with the songs.
He looks just like the sun, but that doesn't mean he is the sun. This expression could be because in someone else's eyes, he could be glorified or they could be in love with him.
[Heart is pounding in his chest / reaches suddenly for his gun / Ship is sailing in the west / A flower that would be his fun] -- A sense of panic, searching for his gun suddenly. Going west, he comes across a girl, obviously.
[Tree of antlers on his head / Weary red split-open eyes / I'm on the corner thinkin' 'bout my bed / He just stands there and signifies ] -- Mass of problems in his head or maybe a lot of worries. The red eyes make me think he's drunk or fucked up. While I'm busy wondering about sleep, he's just there as a meaning to me.
[ Gold and red, the colours change / And she can't forget / Turning back I thought I knew someone / You better check your watch / I think it's time you left / In darkness still, It's obvious to everyone / Looks just like the sun ] -- The seasons change, I can't forget. You think you know everything about someone, but when you find you don't, you tell them to get the fuck out. Still in my darkest hours, I think about you and how you look just like the fucking sun.
To me, this song is a retelling of Albert Camus' 'The Outsider'... the decription of the 'heart pounding in his chest' and the use of the gun instantly reminds me of the scene where Meursault shoots the man, changing the course of his life forever. Camus also mentions the sun numerous times, and it is like Meursault himself blames the sun for his crime, before accepting his fate.
I love how this song comes full circle.
"looks just like it .. he looks just like the sun, .. darkness still, it's obvious to everyone well it looks just like the sun looks just like it"
gold and red the colors change.. you cant forget..
best line to a beautiful song...
So what the hell does it mean?
its about God
its about God
Turning back, you know I thought I knew, thought I knew someone You better check your words, I think it's time you left.
it's like. he thought he knew who this person was and the more he got to know him the more he got to know that the person was completely opposite "you better check your words" he wants the person to make sure that they know what theyre doing to him and what theyre saying
"i think its time you left" he doesnt want a part of this so basically what i think its that hte begining hes in love and at the end. hes not sure why he ever felt that way
thats just my thought
You'd better check your watch, not words. You'd better check your watch; I think it's time you left.
Yeah, I've always heard, "You'd better check your watch, I think it's time you left."
This was the first song I ever heard by Broken Social Scene. I can't remember exactly where I got it from, or how I even found out about them, but I do remember having this song on repeat for about 5 hours. I think what made me fall in love with it is "Heart is pounding in his chest..." and the three lines that follow it.
I think it's about someone sleeping, daydreaming, the sun is a memory of someone, very strong, almost real, maybe painful when u look at it for too long? In short it's like the sun.
Looks just like the sun, looks just like you Looks just like the sun, looks just like it Well, he looks just like the sun, looks just like you
suddenly he wakes up, possibly afraid, at least he's nervous, I think that's why there's the gun in this sentence, it's more like a metaphor of his state of mind. Next lines are clearly about what does he see when he's up. The reality is catching up with him. But still he remembers his dream...
But I'm breathing, thinking one.... Heart is pounding in his chest reaches suddenly for his gun ship is sailing in the west Flower that could be his fun.... Tree of families on his head weary red split open eyes I'm on the corner thinking about my bed bla bla something signifies(?)..... Turning back, you know I thought I knew, thought I knew someone
He can't forget about this person, and the memory returns to him just like the sun does when it comes up gold and goes down red every day. He cannot forget it, it's just so important, like the sun is when it shines on us every day.
Gold and red the colours change as you can't forget Turning back, you know I thought I knew, thought I knew someone You better check your words, I think it's time you left.
The memory leaves him, but he feels empty, dark inside. It's obvious that his in suffering to everyone else, even to him, and it's like that... until the memory returns, just like the sun after the night. I think it's safe to assume that the memory keeps him alive, just like sun gives life to earth.
To he, darkness still it's obvious to everyone darkness still, its obvious to everyone still it's obvious to every, well it looks just like the sun looks just like it
So I think it's about about someone who still loves someone whom he had lost. The memory pains him, but at the same time sustains him.
