I Bruise Easily Lyrics

Oh...yeah
My skin is like a map, where my heart has been
And I can't hide the marks, but it's not a negative thing
So I lay down my guard, drop my defences, down by my clothes
I'm learning to fall, with no safety net, to cushion the blow

I bruise easily, so be gentle when you handle me
There's a mark you leave, like a love heart carved on a tree
I bruise easily, can't scratch the surface without moving me
Underneath I bruise easily, I bruise easily

I found your finger prints on a glass of wine
Do your know Your leaving them all over this heart of mine too
If I never take this leap of faith I'll never know
So I'm learning to fall with no safety net to cushion the blow

I bruise easily, so be gentle when you handle me
There's a mark you leave, like a love heart carved on a tree
I bruise easily, can't scratch the surface without moving me
Underneath I bruise easily, I bruise easily

Anyone who, can touch you, can hurt you, or heal you
Anyone who, can reach you, can love you, or leave you

So be gentle
So be gentle
So be gentle
So be gentle

I bruise easily, so be gentle when you handle me
There's a mark you leave, like a love heart carved on a tree
I bruise easily, can't scratch the surface without moving me
Underneath I bruise easily, I bruise easily

I bruise easily, so be gentle when you handle me
There's a mark you leave, like a love heart carved on a tree
I bruise easily, can't scratch the surface without moving me
Underneath I bruise easily, I bruise easily

I bruise easily
I bruise easily

This song is simple yet beautiful. I can totally relate to it. I agree with nutty_dolphin, its about how easy it can be to be hurt emotionally and how your heart can get scarred.

I agree with everyone else, but it also could be about, she just got out of an abusive relationship. She telling him(the new guy) that she " Bruise easily so be gentle when you handle me." That she just got out of a relationship that hurt her deeply and she's letting him know now.

My Interpretation

I haven't liked her other singles much, Unwritten just gets on my nerves. This is her first single that I have liked. And I REALLY like it. It's just so beautiful, the melody, the track, the lyrics, everything. And she doesn't sound so nasal or forced on this one either. Plus, I can relate to the lyrics which always helps.

I could've written your comment word-for-word, faded! =) Wasn't keen on the other singles either, but I adore these lyrics. The melody is simple and beautiful.. and the video is also lovely!

I can totally relate to this song. I think the meaning's simple, that everyone that you let into your life, they leave a mark on you somewhere mentally, "bruising" you mentally, rather than physically.

This song is really heartfelt and rather nice. It's very peaceful and calm. But mainly why I like this song is because of the music video. I think the music video is ABSOLUTELY beautiful. I think it's the most creative, fascinating and wonderful music video I've ever seen. It's just beautiful.

It's obvious what this song means. Anyone that you let into your life can either leave a mark on you (mentally or possibly physically) in a good or bad way ("anyone who can touch you can hurt you or heal you; anyone who can reach you can love you or leave you").

This is one of my favorite songs from her album.
