Ok right..im really not sure what the song means, hence y i check this page out too see if anyone else does this is what ive got from the first verse though,...

This verse appears to be reffering to Jack The Ripper, who was also reffered to by many at the time as The Leather Apron befor The Murderer gave himself the name of 'Jack the Ripper'

k another thing i was just thinking- sandmen traditionally bring sleep and dreams. blood red sandmen- jack the ripper brought sleep to his victims- blood red and everlasting.

Well the sandman is a term thats used when you sleep, so a blood red sandman must be the guy who gives you nightmares.
It's about the Whitechapel murders, Jack the Ripper. From an official Police Report: "That's Leather Apron getting 'round you." The first line is "They called me the leather apron." Smiling Jack- Jack the Ripper. "The neighborhood´s pretty dead at night And I´m the one to blame" When he commited his crimes no one saw or was near, when he left everyone there(i.e. he victim) was dead.
I think it is about Jack the Ripper, though the video really doesn;t seem to have anything to do with Jack the Ripper. I think it's just a generic scary murderer type.
The murder killed many young people, the people killed him and pray he never returns, but he does return and he kills some more. In the video the kids in the old house turn on a tape player, and then he shows up. Probably trapped in the song that thing plays.
Jack the Ripper is a good guess, but personally I think it's about Freddy Krueger.
Reason I think so is because sandmen bring sleep and dreams, right? Freddy Krueger kills his victems in their dreams, like a blood red sandman.
Second reason is the part about the children weeping, Freddy Krueger, before he was killed, was a child molester. Now whenever he is in his victem's dreams, the children sing that creepy song about him.
Last reason is that Freddy can do anything in the dream world, like bringing flames or cold.
honestly i think its about jack the ripper and i know this'll sound weird but freddy krueger the ledgend of the sandman is that he comes to help u sleep well in my oppinion a "blood red sandman" is someone who kills u while ur sleeping thus the conclusion freddy krueger not to mention the line about "can you hear how the children weep?" freddy was a child killer

ok so heres the thing....your very right about jack the ripper the song has to mainly do with him. however the music video is "evil dead" with bruce campbell if you have ever seen evil dead you would know.
