Restless Lyrics

Honey I know you've been alone some
Why don't you phone some
'Cause I love you
And honey I know I've been away some
I've had to pay some
And you have too

But the one thing that I know when I turn out the light
Visions of you, dear, dance in the night
I've been put down, pushed around, aprehended and led downtown
And I can't help it if I'm out of sight
'Cause I'm restless tonight

I just can't stand being alone
Gonna have to change that someday
There's a restless feeling in my bones
And I know that at times it just won't go away

So if it's all the same honey
I can't take the blame baby
I can't play the game honey
What's true is true
And if in the end the temptation wears you thin
Honey, I'll just pretend that I'll leave it up to you

But the one thing that I know when I turn out the light
Visions of you, dear, dance in the night
I've been put down, pushed around, aprehended and led downtown
And I can't help it if I'm full of fight

But the one thing that I know when I turn out the light
Visions of you, dear, dance in the night
I've been put down, pushed around, aprehended and led downtown
And I can't help it if I'm out of sight
'Cause I'm restless tonight

I'm not really sure what this song means but to me, I think it's about a long distance relationship? She loves her man but she has to be far away (because she's restless & wants to pursue her dreams or watever else). She knows there's the price to pay for this and she understands there's obstacles & temptations but ultimately, she still loves him & is torn between beaing apart doing somethign she wants or to be with him.

Hmmm, I hope I made sense. But I just love them!

I love this song. Her voice is so great in it... My favorite part is both the first lyric and "I just can't stand being alone... Gonna have to change that someday."

To me, that line is like, "I don't want to be alone, but right now I can't seem to find the [right] person and there are things that others consider more important, even if i dont, so i'll just be paitent." I'm not sure if that was confusing... but its a great song.

I like this song a lot--the music just makes me happy to listen to. The lyrics are interesting--she seems accepting of her situation right now, which might not be the best--'if it's all the same honey, I can't take the blame baby, I can't play your game honey'...she knows she has to give up and is moving on.

I love this song. Favorite part of the song, mainly for the sound and maybe not necessarily the words: "But the one thing that I know when I turn out the light Visions of you, dear, dance in the night"

but damn, this whole album is SO amazing. I just got it and can't stop listening to it.

This song says alot to me because of a relationship I've been in myself. From my ppov, sometimes you have this relationship that maybe you don't take enough time for or make a priority every day -- "I've been away some... why don't you phone some..." but when it comes down to it...when you're laying there at night...that's the person you want. "What's true is true..." Eventually you'll be restless enough to phone...cause you love them.

It’s about a couple who are separated by distance and are admitting that they sometimes get “restless” (ie, horny). It reminds me of the life of a musician who is on the road a lot.

"I just can't stand being alone. I'm going to have to change that some day."- She doesn't like to be alone for long, and possibly tends to take lovers along the way to fill up the emptiness. She recognizes this as a fault, but admits that it's the way she is, and maybe one day she will figure out how to change.

She is saying that they both occasionally surrender to temptation, but it doesn’t mean they don’t love each other. It’s almost like they have an open relationship, yet they are both discreet about it. They don’t want to know what each other does when they can’t be together. All that matters is what they have between them.

Thank god bluemoon5. Spot on! It's exactly what it's like for people in concert touring (artist, crew et al). Its tough when you are on the road but its equally tough when you are the one left at home. Whether married or not if it's a committed relationship it is strained, sometimes beyond your capacity to endure and you seek affection in the arms of others but the key is both can feel like that and both feel restless at night. Different people deal with it different ways. In fact when re-reading the lyrics it looks like the song encompasses both povs. The first half of the song is the person who is gone on the road. They acknowledge that they have caused a strain by being away. The second half is the person left at home saying yes it screws us up. I wish I was stronger too but you know what I’m only going to tell you that it doesn’t bother me but I’m also going to let you know in other ways that I don’t like it (I’ll just pretend that I’ll leave it up to you). In the end they both think the relationship is worth the fight and the pain they feel.
