Fisherman's Woman Lyrics
I'm pretending to be a good fisherman's woman
Just like Anna Ingunn's mom
The gladiator of all fisherman's wives
Makes it a lot easier thinking of you
On the sea where you have to be a month at a time
Working hard in the day
Your hands cracking from the cold and the salt
In the night when you go to bed
You try to sleep by listening to the boat breathing
The boat breathing
And the only thing
The only thing you can think of is me
Waiting for you by the window
With the brightest red lipstick on my lips
Just like Anna waits for her man
How will I learn
I'll wait
Just like Anna Ingunn's mom
The gladiator of all fisherman's wives
Makes it a lot easier thinking of you
On the sea where you have to be a month at a time
Working hard in the day
Your hands cracking from the cold and the salt
In the night when you go to bed
You try to sleep by listening to the boat breathing
The boat breathing
And the only thing
The only thing you can think of is me
Waiting for you by the window
With the brightest red lipstick on my lips
Just like Anna waits for her man
How will I learn
I'll wait

Like many of the songs on this album ("Snow" in particular) I think "Fisherman's Woman" is a song dealing with the death of Emiliana's lover. I think she is saying that is much easier to imagine him away at sea, rather than gone forever. Ultimately, however, this is tragic, because she will always be waiting.
The only thing wrong with this song is its unjustifiable shortness! I wish it were longer.. much longer..
its really good. a song about distance and waiting. sweet imagery. emiliana is awesome.
Awesome imagery... "The boat breathing, and the only you can think of is me" is great. Puts you in the husbands place. How he works hard in a dangerous job and all he wants is to be with his wife. And she wants him by her side but has to be strong.. Emiliana is great at this.
