This Is Not a Competition Lyrics
This is not a competition
You will see when I am gone
Can't you see that I am trying?
Love fifteen; fifteen all
I made a vow to carry you home
If you fall sick, if you pass out
I made a vow to rescue you
If you're in trouble, if you flake out
If you need to ask
I ache because you ache
What was it you could not tell me?
Why are there cuts on your arm?
What is it you run away from?
Why have all the clocks stopped?
You will see when I am gone
Can't you see that I am trying?
Love fifteen; fifteen all
I made a vow to carry you home
If you fall sick, if you pass out
I made a vow to rescue you
If you're in trouble, if you flake out
I ache because you ache
Why are there cuts on your arm?
What is it you run away from?
Why have all the clocks stopped?

I dont think so, but how the fuck cares...the band is great.

^^^ I meant who the fuck cares ^^^
...I'm stupid :(
"if you need to ask, i ache because you ache."
beautiful.
I think the song is about someone in a relationship promising to help the other person no matter what, because they care about them. But then towards the end they run out of time and it's too late, because they've got to either get on with they're own life, or the person is so far beyond any help they coud offer.
Basically: Relationship, strong faith between them, BUT the person that is ebing sung about obviously is troubled in some way, with the cuts on their arm (most probably self-harm), and it may also be that they need the support. But, the 'narrator' seems to feel the same pain as the subject "I ache, because you ache".. if you catch my drift. Like I've already said a few times today, not explaining too much today, sorry. Just doing this out of boredom (Whilst listening to the ol' Bloc ofcourse).. Ben xxx
This is a beautifully written song, and i really like how it sounds different to alot of their other songs. I think it's all about unconditional love for someone, what ever it is they're going through, and always wanting to be there for them. Yet by doing this the narrator is feeling their pain - "I ache because you ache" It's just an amazing song
Some of the best lyrics I've ever heard. the first time i listened to this song i took it that the narrator loved this girl but it wasn't returned, maybe, and hes promising to always be there, no matter what. but youre right, not a competition, amazing song.
