I agree. Way better. By the way, I think the words are "Aurora Borealis", referring to the northern lights in the Arctic caused by sunspots. Not sure how the words fit into the song, though.
This song is about the drug scene of the early 1970's, traveling around, sharing different drugs with different people you encountered along the way. The visitation of different places in space make references to different highs from different drugs. I would expect they wrote this from personal experience.
Ok everyone sucks. This song is and always has been about a zillion times better then Smoke on the Water. This should've been Deep Purple's signature song, and I'm rather offended that the lyrics to this weren't even on this site. Damn...

i just heard this song and i have to say it is pretty sweet. i was never too much of a deep purple fan but this song drew my attention to them. and zenxlow, you are right, this song does beat the shit out of any music today.
The song is so cool.. and whats awesome about Deep Purple is that they made rly good music with easy playing riffs and hard fast solos.. which bands from now cant even do.. Not even Led Zeppelin stands a change the Purple lol.
Deep Purple is a lot like Zeppelin if the latter wasn't busy making songs about the Lord of the Rings. While Led was busy doing that, Deep Purple was busy making some rock that was as hard as DIAMONDS.
