Right when this part started, I started crying and didn't stop
This song is awesome.
I think, like many of John's songs, it has a theme of fate and your current condition. "Review your whole life and you dont have to die", hes saying you can always change if you want to, its never too late. There is plenty more to this song that I'd like to think about. Thats my opinion.
why do people think about things like this. john can chsange who you are and the things that that person does. he s really amazing and i think this song shows this and shows it with power

k i think i got it in a nutshell. theres a lot more to it, i think, but basically what it comes down to is, just feeling good, ascending, feeling like you're floating

over the years john has incorporated a lot of harmony in his/the chili peppers' songs. i think john's backup harmonizing on 'by the way' played a major role in the peppers' new, more mature sound. and he's pretty much mastered that art on 'ascension' ... especially during the 'you saved me' portion...
anyway this song is beautiful. john is one of the most talented guitarists in music right now and this song is proof.

if you listen to this w/ earphones at night really loud (actually any one of his songs) with no light in you really feel wanted in someway to somone of a place somethign like that i havent figured out just at the moment but i'll try soon . the song can feel right into your bones or something
