Baby Boomerang Lyrics
Slim lined sheik faced
Angel of the night
Riding like a cowboy
In the graveyard of the night
New York Witch
In the dungeon of the day
I'm trying to write my novel
But all you do is play
Baby Boomerang, Baby Boomerang
Well, you never spike a person
But you always bang the whole gang
Oh yeah...
Mince pie dog-eye
Eagle on the wind
I'm searching through this garbage
Just looking for a friend
Your uncle with an alligator
Chained to his leg
Dangles you your freedom
Then he offers you his bed
It seems to me to dream
Is something too wild
In Max's Kansas City
You're belladonna child
Hiding on the highways
On the gateways to the south
You're talking with your boots
And you're walking with your mouth
Baby Boomerang, Baby Boomerang
Well, you never spike a person
But you always bang the whole gang
Thank you ma'am
Angel of the night
Riding like a cowboy
In the graveyard of the night
New York Witch
In the dungeon of the day
I'm trying to write my novel
But all you do is play
Well, you never spike a person
But you always bang the whole gang
Oh yeah...
Eagle on the wind
I'm searching through this garbage
Just looking for a friend
Your uncle with an alligator
Chained to his leg
Dangles you your freedom
Then he offers you his bed
Is something too wild
In Max's Kansas City
You're belladonna child
Hiding on the highways
On the gateways to the south
You're talking with your boots
And you're walking with your mouth
Well, you never spike a person
But you always bang the whole gang

its a T-Rex cover
I didn't really think it was about a prostitute because the song is too personel
maybe more like a girl who has been with all the guys in the same group of friends
Marc Bolan wrote about people on the scene back in the 70's (without naming names)--like he did in "Telegram Sam" where he talks about Dylan, and some of his friends naming them "Telegram Sam" and "Purple Pie Pete" and "Jungle Face Jake". He left it up to you to figure out who they were. I'm guessing "Baby Boomerang" was somebody famous on the New York scene at the time. I think it could have been Lou Reed and the uncle could have been Andy Warhol. Who knows; but I think "Baby Boomerang" was an alias for one of those New York underground peoplein the 70's.
Not everything Marc Bolan wrote was fictitious... This song - Baby Boomerang - is about Patti Smith.
i like this song.
i really like this song too. i don't really understand it, but i still love the lyrics. maybe it's about a prostitute?
Marc Bolan was the elfin Druid poet of the 60's and the 70's. So many of his songs contain a strange, magical, other-worldly, supernatural, mysticism, but that was Marc.
This song is awesome. It is a T-Rex cover. I prefered James Mercer's solo version though.
My first impression of this song was definitely a prostitute - "angel of the night" - constantly referred to with different names...such as "New York witch."
The story of it, or at least the story I draw from it, seems to be a man in the city constantly teased by temptations like sex...and maybe describing a particular prostitute he met?
Maybe that's thinking too literally... I do love this song though. Catchy, very catchy, makes me tap my foot :)
I can definitley see where you're coming from, but some things in your description are too specific for this song, but I think when it comes to the more overall deal that you're right
