Baron Saturday Lyrics
Sorrow, he'll show you games to play
He bends his mouth up to your ear
The words won't disappear
He'll take your eyes out for a ride
Through an eyeglass of tears, it's not clear
White visions black, Mister Malady
'Neath a sky of milk
You're drinking silk
You've lost the runcible spoon
On satin plates
Young maidens wait
To be devoured in the glare of the moon
Except for Baron Saturday
Except for Baron Saturday
Your life was cool
Good senses rule
Throw your life away
Let him steal your mind away
He'll show you the grave
Of someone who was saved
From living their life in a year
He'll show you a grave
Of someone who was saved
From taking his life with a knife
Except for Baron Saturday
Except for Baron Saturday
Your life was cool
Good senses rule
Throw your life away
(x2)
Best song on the album. Got into the Pretties because Noel Gallagher mentioned writing a song like this for the new Oasis album.
same here, heard that the singer of kasabian recommended this song to noel. Absolutely love it. But does anybody know what it's about and what the entire album is about? im told it's the first rock opera/concept album ever.
The song is about Baron Samedi (or Baron Saturday in englisg) He is Lao in the voodoo religion.

Yeah, to understand this song, you'll have to listen to the whole album. It's the story of a guy who loves this girl, but when she dies he gets really depressed and cuts himself off from the world. Sort of similar to Pink Floyds "The Wall." This song in particular is sort of a metaphorical way of thinking for the main character. Baron Saturday comes and helps him keep from suicide (He'll show you the grave Of someone who was saved From living their life in a year He'll show you a grave Of someone who was saved From taking his life with a knife).
But this only keeps him alive and he is unable to achieve happiness again.
@smroo that's not exactly true and Baron Saturday does the opposite of that. He makes him remember and realize all the horrible things that have happened to him throughout his life.

Nobody confused this for the Beatles the first time they heard it?
